The law of having a tattoo for women in Islam is a thing that should be studied more in the law of tattooing in Islam. Because along with the development of zama and the era of modernization like now, meet a women who tattooed their bodies is no longer a difficult thing. In fact, some people consider it as something that is part of the lifestyle of modern society.
In the hadith itself, the one who gets tattooed is cursed. The meaning of the curse is far from the mercy of Allah as the law of women is not veiled.
Tattooing can be called an act that is forbidden especially when making tattoos on parts that fall into the category of aurat, then that part has been confirmed to be exhibited to make it look more stylish.
This is explained in the Quran and the hadith as follows:
“And I will truly lead them astray and will raise up empty dreams of them and will send them (cut off the ears of livestock), then they actually cut them off, and I will tell them (to change God’s creation), then they really changed it. Whoever makes Satan become a protector besides Allah, then, in fact, he suffers a real loss.” (An-Nisa’: 119)

From Abu Hurairah and Ibn Umar, he said that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
“Allah cursed women who connect their hair, women who ask for their hair to be connected, as well as women who make tattoos and who ask for tattoos.” (Narrated by Bukhari no. 5933, 5937 and Muslim no. 2124)
From Abdullah bin Masud, he said,
“Allah cursed the woman who tattooed and who asked for tattooing, who removed the hair on her face and who asked for hair to be removed on her face, which stretched her teeth to look beautiful, also the woman who changed God’s creation.”
This also reached the ears of a woman from Bani Asad called Umm Ya’qub, she used to read the Qur’an. He came to Ibn Mas’ud and then said, “There is a hadith that has come to me from you that you cursed the woman who tattooed and who asked for tattooing, who asked to remove hair on her face, which stretched her teeth to look beautiful, also the woman who changed God’s creation, is it true?”
Ibn Mas’ud replied, “Why I did not curse the people cursed by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and it is already in the Qur’an.”
The woman again said, “I have read the Quran but I did not find it.”
Ibn Mas’ud said, “Try to read again, you must find it. Allah Ta’ala says, “What the Messenger has given you, then accept it. And what he forbids you, then leave it.” (Surah Al-Haysr: 7) (HR Bukhari number 5943 and Muslim no 2125)
Tattoos are piercing needle or the like to the skin so that the blood passes and is given alcohol or the like so it becomes blue. These tattoos are usually performed in the hands, face, body, and legs and also in other parts of the body. Making a tattoo on the skin is a thing that is prohibited by Allah SWT, as mentioned in a hadith narrated from Alqomah that the Messenger of Allah said, “Allah cursed those who tattoo and who begged for tattoos.” (Narrated by Bukhori)
The ban on tattoos in Islam is due to the tattoos inhibiting the entry of water wudhu to the skin and pores. As a result, the tattooed person will get torture later in the future with the implantation of blisters on the body of the tattoo.
Furthermore, people who make tattoos tend to have the glorified nature of the qibla they imitate. This behavior can be seen when they boast someone he adores.
Therefore, for women who have tattooed, it is obligatory for them to eliminate it and repent, or at least try to eliminate it, as long as removing the tattoo is not to damage the body (skin) that is tattooed or cause pain that is above reasonableness. If so, then it is not necessary to eliminate it and simply repent and legally pray.
The tattooed threat in the hadith is directed at women. Tattooed women are humbling themselves in God’s eyes even though women have been given a noble position as men if they believe. Allah Ta’ala said,
“Whoever does righteous deeds, both men and women in a state of faith, then indeed We will give him a good life and indeed We will reward them with a better reward than what they have done.” (Surah An Nahl: 97)
The views of some scholars in the law of women tattooed in Islam include.
[AdSense-C]
According to Ibn Hajar,
Making tattoos illegitimate based on the existence of anathema in the hadith, it is obligatory to eliminate them if possible even though by injuring them. Unless the fear perishes, (is overwritten) something, or loses the benefit of the members of the body, it is permissible to allow it and enough to repent to abort sin. And in this case, it is the same between men and women.”
Views by fatwa Asy-Shaykh Abdul Muhsin Al-‘Abbad:
“The tattoos are illegal and increase their luck when someone draws something illegal like animals. Whoever does this and then knows the law should be devoted to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. And if it can get rid of it without causing harm it should be eliminated.”
