5 Reasons Why We Should Strengthen Silaturahim in Islam

Have you ever wondered the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam? Muslims are similar to other types of social humans that need to socialize with others. That makes sense that Silaturahim is needed to do.

Strengthening the bond of ties among Muslims becomes the common reason why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. As the bond is stronger, that makes Muslims have easier access to improve their social life to a better step.

So much research proves that there are so many reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Here we have some of them below based on the Quran before you know how to strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Let’s check them out below!

1. Getting a Happier Life

Getting a happier life is one of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Spending time with others makes Muslim happy as they know each other and sometimes have a nostalgic moment.

Doing Silaturrahim brings joy to the moment that Muslims spend with each other such as when they realize how to forgive someone on that occasion. Doing good deeds will make Muslims get a happier life, whether for now or in the hereafter.

It mentions in the Quran surah Ar Ra’d verse 29 below.

اَلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ طُوْبٰى لَهُمْ وَحُسْنُ مَاٰبٍ – ٢٩

“Those who believe and do good deeds, they find happiness and a good place to return.” (QS 13:29)

2. Have a Stronger Relationship

Having a stronger relationship among Muslims is one of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. As Muslims, we know the truth that having a weak relationship with other just make us weaker.

Moreover, as Muslims, in daily life, we need each other for so many reasons such as finding the ways of the Islamic law of adopting a non-Muslim kid. Whether for family needs, friendship, or even business. Such as mentioned in the Quran surah An Nisa verse 1 below.

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوْا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ نَّفْسٍ وَّاحِدَةٍ وَّخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيْرًا وَّنِسَاۤءً ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ الَّذِيْ تَسَاۤءَلُوْنَ بِهٖ وَالْاَرْحَامَ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيْبًا – ١

O, people! Fear your Lord who has created you from oneself (Adam), and (Allah) created his partner (Eve) from his (self), and from them, Allah brought forth many males and females. Fear Allah in whose name you ask one another, and (maintain) family relations. Verily, Allah is always watching over you.” (QS 4:1)

3. Avoid Allah’s Punishment

Avoid Allah’s punishment is one of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Every Muslim is fear Allah’s punishment which leads to the tormenting in hell. Muslims know better about the consequences of doing a bad deed.

Moreover, cutting a Silaturahim tie is a bad deed in Islam that Muslims should avoid the most. That is why it is better to keep strengthening the Silaturahim by doing good deeds among other.

It mentions in the Quran surah Al Baqarah verse 27, and Ar Ra’d verse 21 below.

الَّذِيْنَ يَنْقُضُوْنَ عَهْدَ اللّٰهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مِيْثَاقِهٖۖ وَيَقْطَعُوْنَ مَآ اَمَرَ اللّٰهُ بِهٖٓ اَنْ يُّوْصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ – ٢٧

“(i.e.) those who break the covenant of Allah after it has been confirmed, and decide what Allah has commanded to be joined and do mischief on earth. They are the ones who lose.” (QS 2:27)

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَصِلُوْنَ مَآ اَمَرَ اللّٰهُ بِهٖٓ اَنْ يُّوْصَلَ وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ وَيَخَافُوْنَ سُوْۤءَ الْحِسَابِ ۗ – ٢١

And those who connect what Allah has commanded to be connected, and they fear their Lord and fear a bad reckoning.” (QS 13:21)

4. Getting a Lesson Learned

Getting a lesson learned is one of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Doing Silaturahim will make us have a different point of view towards something that relates to our life such as finding some of the types of tolerance in Islam.

That makes sense if the Silaturahim will give us the benefit to take some lessons learned among others. Such is mentioned in the Quran surah An Nahl verse 90 below.

 اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْاِحْسَانِ وَاِيْتَاۤئِ ذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَيَنْهٰى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاۤءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُوْنَ – ٩٠

Verily, Allah commands (you) to do justice and do good, to give help to relatives, and He forbids (to do) vile deeds, evil, and enmity. He teaches you so that you can take lessons.” (QS 16:90)

5. Be a Fair Person

Being a fair person is one of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Doing Silaturahim is common behavior for Muslims to do good deeds among others in the way to find some of the Islamic laws regarding contracts and business transactions.

Doing Silaturahim without making any difference to others makes Muslims learn how to be fair people. They will change their behavior towards others which relates not only to Muslims but to others as well.

Such is mentioned in the Quran surah Al Mumtahanah verse 8 below.

لَا يَنْهٰىكُمُ اللّٰهُ عَنِ الَّذِيْنَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوْكُمْ فِى الدِّيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوْكُمْ مِّنْ دِيَارِكُمْ اَنْ تَبَرُّوْهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوْٓا اِلَيْهِمْۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِيْنَ – ٨

Allah does not forbid you to do good and to do justice to those who do not fight you in religious matters and do not expel you from your hometown. Verily, Allah loves those who act justly.” (QS 60:8)

So, there are some of the reasons why we should strengthen Silaturahim in Islam. Whether for good or bad, Silaturahim always brings good intentions among others which make the good term happen.
