12 Benefits of Aloe Vera in Islam

Islam recognizes particular plants that are highly beneficial in everyday lives, even capable of curing wound and disease. Among those plants is aloe vera. Aloe vera is often called The Miracle Plant, the Natural Healer, and the Burnt Plant. It said that aloe vera have survived for more than 4000 years and for that long period of time, aloe vera has benefited human being until today.

Aloe vera was also the most favorite herbs of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It was narrated by Qyas bin Rafi al Qatsi that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

“Aloes and watercress are a sure cure for illness.”

It is true that aloe vera gel has benefited both for health and beauty. In South America, aloe vera still used as the “all purpose cure”.

Aloe veras are very easy to use. In fact, we can use it as soon as aloe vera was picked up. And it applied for both internal and external application. The aloe vera gel is ready to be used at any time and for any purpose. We can take out the gel from the cover and mix it with some ice water, then the aloe vera drink is ready. Or if we just arrived from the outside and feel our skin burnt, apply a freshly picked aloe vera right to the skin to heal the burn.

Aloe vera is indeed very benefited for daily use, so that it’s best to plant aloe vera around the house. The names Aloe vera derives from the Arabian “Alloeh” which means “shining and bitter substance”, while vera is a Latin word means “true”.

The research to prove aloe vera health benefits has conducted since 2000 years ago. The Egyptian scientists called aloe vera “the immortality plant”. Nowadays, aloe vera is mostly use for dermatological purpose.

Anatomy of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera leaves has a fleshy, triangular leaves with sawlike edges. It also has yellow flower and fruits which produces many seeds. Each aloe vera leaves contains of three layers:

  • A clear gel (which later is the most used part of aloe vera) in the inside, consist of 99% water and the rest 1% is contained vitamins, acids, and minerals.anthraquinones
  • The middle layer is latex with bitter yellow sap, contain glycosides and anthraquinones.
  • The thick green layer as an outer part consist of 10-20 cells which work as protector, contained proteins and synthesizes  carbohydrates.

Benefits of Aloe Vera in Islam:

Here are the benefits of aloe vera in Islam that every Muslim should know:

  1. Relieving the itching in body since aloe vera gel is an anti puritic agent.
  2. Use aloe vera gel for light to medium sunburns. Aloe vera soothes the sunburn skin and makes it heal quicker.
  3. Aloe vera is capable to increase tissue feature for cellular levels and help regenerating the superior tissue.
  4. Accelerates wound healing, reducing pain, and prevent inflammation in skin.
  5. Aloe vera gel is highly beneficial for health since it can: decrease itching, reduce swelling, improves blood circulation from wounded part.[AdSense-B]

  7. Aloe vera gel contains the anti fungal, anti bacterial, and anti viral properties. So that it is good at killing microorganism that may cause harm for our body.
  8. Aloe vera gel contains saponin, a natural substance that works as natural cleanser. Other than cleansing the skin, aloe vera gel can also be used for hair treatment.

  10. To relieve stress, mixed aloe vera gel with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply to your skin after bath.
  11. Aloe vera gel also highly beneficial to treat hair loss. Applying aloe vera gel can also resulted in a more shiny and softer hair.
  12. According to the Prophet (peace be upon him), aloe vera can cleanse the stomach as well as used to take care of the private parts and buttocks.

Those are all the benefits of aloe vera in Islam. It has been proved that aloe vera is highly useful for life.

Aloe Vera Components

As a highly beneficial plant for human, aloe vera contains numerous vitamins and mineral which makes it so. Here what’s inside the aloe vera.

  • Aloe vera contains vitamin A, C, and E which work as antioxidants. Along with vitamin B12, choline, and folic acid, it helps to neutralize free radicals from the body.
  • All the 8 enzymes aloe vera contains: peroxidase, lipase, cellulase, catalase, amylase, carboxypeptidase, bradykinase, phosphatase, alkaline, aliiase are all useful for the body. Especially bradykinase which helps reducing inflammation to the skin. Other enzyimes help to breakdown sugars and fats inside the body.
  • Quite a lot of mineral existed in the aloe vera: chromium, calcium, selenium, copper, manganese, magnesium, zinc, sodium, and potassium. All of them help to improve body metabolism as well as antioxidants to protect our body from free radicals.

As a good Muslim, we should follow the sunnah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do when he lived. Following the Prophet’s sunnah cause many good things to happen to our lives and we may blessed with love from Allah SWT.
