Brotherhood in Islam is not just a simple relationship between a Muslim and another Muslim. It’s also part of faith so powerful it could strengthen the religion. Brotherhood is so important in Islam so that the Prophet (SAW) said:
“You cannot enter paradise unless you become a total believer and you won’t become a total believer unless you love each other.”
Faith is not only important, but it also brings benefits to our lives. The benefits of brotherhood in Islam will help us to survive in the world full of temptation and making our way to the Hereafter easier. Here are all the benefits of brotherhood in Islam we could gain.
1. Strengthen the Faith in Islam
Brotherhood is the basic of faith, and the bond between Muslim brothers helps to strengthen the faith of a Muslim.
The Prophet (SAW) said, “If a person loves his brother, he should inform him of this fact.” – Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi

2. Making Good Friends Between Muslim
It’s important to make good friends between Muslims. The brotherhood of a Muslim should based only by strong faith to Allah SWT, not based on financial interest, color, and raced. The only defining factor of a brotherhood is similarity in faith.
3. Help Us Receiving the Mercy of Allah
People who creates brotherhood under the worship of Allah is a moral value of faith. Allah gives mercy to whoever establish brotherhood in the name of Allah.
“The believers are nothing else than brothers. So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy.” – Al Hujurat (49:10)

“O, mankind! Surely we have created you of a male and female and make you tribes and families that you know each other, surely the noblest among you unto Allah is one who fears him Behold! Allah is Knower Aware.” – Al Hujurat (49:13)

“Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. Remember the favor of Allah upon you, when you were enemies and he brought your hearts together and you became brothers by his favor.” – Ali Imran (3:103)

“They say: Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts any resentment toward those who have faith. Our Lord, you are kind and merciful.” – Al Hashr (59:10)

As the Prophet (SAW) said, “The Muslims are like a single man. If the eye is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted. If the head is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted.” – Muslim
9. Making the Day of Judgment Lighter
The Prophet said, “He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult; Allah will make it easy for him in the world and the Hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in the world and the Hereafter, for Allah helps the servant as long as he helps his brother.” – Muslim

10. Completing the Faith
Muslim brothers should be treated as family, and it’s how the faith of a Muslim could be completed.
The Prophet said, “Verily, the believers with the most complete faith are those with the most excellent character and who are most kind to their families.” – Tirmidhi

Building a strong bond between brothers in Islam is important and beneficial. To build a bond that won’t be broken easily, make sure you fulfill all your obligation as a brother in Islam:
1. Greet Each Other
When two brothers meet, they should give their greetings to each other.
Allah says: “And when those who believe in our signs come to you then say to them, ’Peace be upon you’ …..” – An’aam (6:54)
2. Accepting the Invitation
When your brother invites you to a ceremony or festivities, make sure you attend it.
In a narration, there was said when the Prophet (SAW) saw some women and children returning from attending a wedding and he stood up in delight and said: “Allah is my witness that you are the most beloved to me amongst all the people.” – Bukhari
3. Wishing Wellness for the Brother
As you wish for your health and happiness, wish the same thing to your brother. It only then proves that you do love him.
The Prophet (SAW) said, “You cannot be a true believer until you do not desire for your Muslim brother what you desire for yourself.” – Bukhari and Muslim
4. Answering His Sneeze
One of the right of a Muslim brother is to be answered when they sneeze. Whenever your Muslim brother sneeze, answer to them, “Yarhamuk Allah” (may Allah have mercy on you).
5. Visiting When He is Sick and Attending the Funeral of a Muslim Brother
It’s also a duty for a Muslim to visit his sick brother and attending the funeral of a deceased Muslim brother.
The Prophet (SAW) said, “If a person visits a sick person in the morning, seventy thousand angels supplicate for him until in the evening. And if he visits the sick person in the evening, seventy thousand angels supplicate for him until the following morning.” – Tirmidhi
