Death is an event where somebody’s life comes to an end. His existence are no longer present in this world and in time, he will be forgotten. For some people, death remains something dreadful. While in fact we all will be dead someday, we must define death as something more meaningful than just an end of a life. Islam, for example, teaches Muslims not to be afraid of death,
Here are some benefits of death in Islam.
1. Showing the Greatness of Allah SWT
The only one who is capable in creating life and death is only Allah SWT. For this reason, we should never afraid of death or see it as a negative entity since Allah never created such and such things will never be able to be created.
“Who created death and life that He may try you – which of you is best in deeds; and He is Mighty and Forgiving.” Al-Mulk (67:2)

The fact that there are births and deaths everyday simply shows that world are changing every other day. By death we can see clearer that the Greatness of Allah SWT is real. Just like the way life it is, death is only another journey from a world to another world, to be settled forever. Life in this world is only temporary and preparation towards a more permanent life in the Hereafter.
3. A Moment to Meet Allah SWT
It is a dream for every true Muslim to meet his Creator, the Almighty Allah SWT. The only moment where the dream can be true is by death. Only a true Muslim whose faith belongs to Allah will be able to meet Him.
“So whoever desires to meet his Lord, he should do good deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord.” – Al-Kahf (18:110)

5. Bringing Our Soul Back to Allah SWT
Death is the time where we return to our creator, Allah SWT. However, it’not our body that returned but only the soul. Allah SWT commands the Angel of Death to take the soul.

Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things).” – Luqman (31:34)
Death comes without prior notification and it may happen anytime in any situation. A good Muslim knows that he should always be ready for death and that he has prepared for it. Here are the things a Muslim could prepare so that he can gain the benefits of death in Islam.
Abu Hurairah narrated that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and righteous offspring who will pray for him.” – Muslim
