12 Best Ways How to Become a Strong Believer in Islam

A strong believer is the closest to Allah SWT and would likely meet the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself in the Day of Judgement. It requires a lot of efforts to become one, but any Muslim will do everything in order to become a strong believer. But how to become a strong believer in Islam?

A Muslim is a true believer. Allah is One and he stays with this until the end of. Allah SWT has indeed ensure the safety of a Muslim, guaranteed that in the end they will live happily ever after in Jannah. But a Muslim shouldn’t be satisfied with this status quo, as there are hierarchy between Muslims themselves. The one sits at the top is the closest to Allah, which means he is the best Muslims.

Don’t just be an ordinary Muslim and here are how to become a strong believer in Islam.

  1. Believe in Allah SWT

This is basic and the most important thing: believe in Allah SWT when He is unseen. Allah SWT creates the whole universe and its content. A weak believer will find it hard to believe in what they cannot see such as Angels, Prophets, revelations, resurrection, and destiny.

“And who believe in (the Quran and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in (the Taurat (Torah revealed to Moses) and the Injil (Gospel revealed to Jesus), etc.) which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter.” (2:4)

  1. Worship Allah SWT with Sincerity

Mankind and jinn are the only creatures who have freewill, means they can choose whatever they want to do. It’s not a blessing but it’s a trial. A true believer will use this power to worship Allah SWT with all sincerity. Holding all the forbidden desire which awaken the wrath of Allah SWT. A good Muslim must remain steadfast until the last day of his life.

“Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. ” (67:1-2)

  1. Avoid Committing Sins

Allah SWT has made it clear of what are allowed and forbidden. While it’s very hard to restrain oneself from committing sins, those who are successful in avoiding it gain a huge reward from Allah SWT.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

“Verily, every king has a sanctum and the sanctum of Allah is his prohibitions.” (Bukhari)

  1. Be Humble and Show Mercy

A must-have quality of a Muslim is merciful and humble. As Allah SWT is merciful, so a faithful servant should be one as well.

As narrated by Jubair ibn Mut’im, a man once came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked,

O Messenger of Allah, which part of the land is worst? He said: I do not know.” When Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him he said: “O Jibril, which part of the land is worst?” He said: “I do not know, until I ask my Lord, may He be glorified and exalted.” Jibril went away, and stayed away for as long as Allah willed that he should stay away. Then he came and said: “O Muhammad, you asked me which part of the land is worst and I said I did not know. I asked my Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, and He said: Its markets.” (Ahmad)

  1. Have a Strong Faith in Allah SWT

Have faith in Allah SWT, especially during the hardships. Believe that everything happens is from Allah SWT and there are always blessings in disguise in every trials.

“…And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty) .And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.” (65:2-3)

  1. Be Patience in Facing the Trials

Life meets downhills at times and turbulence are part of it. It actually a test for those who said that they believe in Allah, who passed the test has proved that they are indeed a true believer.

“O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with the patience.” (2:153)

  1. Give Excellence in Everything

Another way how to become a strong believer in Islam is by doing everything with excellence. Surely excellence is belong only to Allah SWT, but excellency means that a servant has to give his best in everything.

As reported by Shaddad ibn Aws, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

“Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you have to slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal is spared of suffering.” (Muslim)

  • Put Allah SWT above everything and show no tolerance in every injustice.
  • Perform obligatory prayers right on time.
  • Seek for success as a Muslim, put aside all the materials thing.
  • Strengthen your faith in Allah by fulfilling all five pillars in Islam
  • Make dua to Allah SWT and turn back to him in every aspects in life.

There are still many ways how to become a strong believer in Islam. As long as we are being obedience to Allah’s command and stay away from everything he forbids, we would be successful as a Muslim.
