Among the seven days in Islam, there is one particular day that Allah said as a very important day. In the day, the special mercy of Allah is granted, freely for everyone who ask for it. For every good deeds we do, Allah multiply the rewards. That one particular day is Jummah.
Allah Almighty has said in the Holy Quran,
“We have certainly created man into hardship.” – Al Balad (90:4)
The hardship that comes along with human makes them often forget about the time rotation, including the names of the days. Jummah was created by Allah to remind human being about His existence. Among all the days, Allah has specially request Jummah as the day where His servants remember about him.
Jummah is the sixth day of the week. According to the Arabian literature, Jummah or al Jumu’ah are derived from jama’a-yajma’u-jaman as its root, means to gather, to collect, to unite, to count, and to combine. The meaning of Jummah itself are unity, friendship, harmony (al ulfah), and meeting (al ijtima). Even though all the days in the week are actually the same, Jummah in Islam is indeed special. Just like how Saturday is special for Jews and Sunday for the Christian. What makes Jummah special and different than any other days? Here are the importance of Jummah in Islam.
1. Jummah is the best of day
Messenger of Allah himself consider Jummah as the best of day, and that is what makes Jummah special. It was the day when the father of humanity, Prophet Adam (AS) created and he was expelled from Jannah in the similar day.
“As reported by Abu Hurairah, The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, ‘The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. Adam was created on Friday and on it he entered Paradise and on it he was expelled from therein. The Hour will not be established except on Friday.” – Muslim.
2. Jummah prayer obligation for every man in Islam
One special thing about Jummah is the Jummah prayer. The prayer was a direct instruction from Allah to His servants, and it has to be fulfilled, especially for men. No matter how busy you are, leave all of them once you heard the call.
“O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for the Salat on Friday, come to the remembrance of Allah and leave off business. That is better for you if you did but know.” – Al Juma’a (62:9).

3. All prayers will be granted
Pray in Jummah and Allah will grant it for you. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emphasizing this one specialty of Friday.
“From Abu Hurairah who said: Abu al Qaasim (SAW) said, ‘On Friday there is an hour when, if a Muslim happens to pray at that time and ask Allah for something good, He will give it to him.” – Bukhari and Muslim.
The particular hour was believed to be the time from when the imam sits on the mimbar until the prayer ended.
4. Charity in Jummah is better
Jummah is the best day to do the good deeds. Every good deeds any Muslim do in the day, the reward will be multiplied. One of the good deeds is charity (sadaqah).
Ibn Al Qayyim said, “Giving charity of Friday with regard to the rest of the week is the best day to do so. This is similar to the superiority of giving charity during Ramadan with regard to the rest of the months.”

5. Allah forgives our sins from that Friday and the next
One of the day where sins are forgiven is i Friday, The Prophet (SAW) himself said so. As narrated by Salmaan (RA),
“Any man who performs Ghusl on Friday, perfumes himself if he has perfume, wears the best of his clothes, then goes to the mosque and offers as many prayers as he wishes while not harming anybody, then listens quietly while the Imaam speaks until he offers the prayer, will have all his sins between that Friday and the next forgiven.” – Bukhari.
6. Muslim died on Friday will be protected from the trial of grave
Friday is the day of mercy in Islam. Allah’s mercy not only come to the living ones who do good deeds during the day, but also for Muslim who passed away in the particular day. The Prophet (SAW) said,
“Any Muslim who dies during the day or night of Friday will be protected by Allaah from the trial of the grave.” – Tirmidhi and Ahmad.

7. Allah glorify His servants in Friday
From Anas bin Malik (RA), he said about one of Allah’s verse in Quran:
“They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.” – Qaf (50:35)
He said, “Allah glorify them (in Jannah) on Friday.”
8. Days of Allah’s mercy
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) talk about the specialty of Jummah:
[AdSense-A]“Salman Al-Faarasee (RA) narrated that the messenger of Allah (SAW) said,
‘Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumu’ah prayer) and does not separate two people sitting together (in the masjid), then prays as much as (Allaah has) written for him and remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven’.” – Bukhari.
9. Every steps to the mosque for the Jummah prayer will be rewarded
From Aws bin Aws al Thaqafi (RA), he said, “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, ‘Whoever does Ghusl on Friday and causes (his wife) to do Ghusl, and sets out early, and comes close to the imam and listens and keeps quiet, for every step he takes he will have the reward of fasting and praying qiyaam for one year’.” – Tirmidhi.

10. Jummah is the Holy day for Muslim
One of the importance of Jummah in Islam is narrated by Abu Huraira, Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, “… And Allah turned towards us and guided us to Friday (as the day of prayer) for us. In fact, He (Allah) made Friday, Saturday and Sunday (as days of prayer). In this order would they (Jews and Christians) come after us on the Day of Resurrection. We are the last of (the Ummahs) among the people in this world and the first among the created to be judged on the Day of Resurrection. In one narration it is to be judged among them.” – Muslim.
11. The master of all days
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) once said about Jummah as a day better than all days, including the day of al-Fitr and the day of al-Adha, “In the sight of Allah (SWT) Friday is the master of days. It is more valuable than the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr (Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid –ul-Adha).” – Bukhari.

12. The most valuable day
Prophet Muhammad described Jummah as the most valuable day, “Friday is the most valuable of days. Friday is more valuable than eid days and the ashura day. Friday is the eid of Mumins in the world and in jannah (heaven).” – Riyadun Nasihin.
13. Jummah is the best among all the days
Narrated from Abu Lubaabah ibn ‘Abd al-Mundhir said: The Prophet (SAW) said: “
“Friday is the master of days, and the greatest of them before Allah. It is greater before Allah than the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr. It has five characteristics: on this day Allah created Adam, on it He sent Adam down to the earth, on it Allah caused Adam to die, on it there is a time when a person does not ask Allah for anything but He gives it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything haram, and on it the Hour will begin. There is no angel who is close to Allah, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain and no sea that does not fear Friday.” – Ibn Maajah.

14. All the Angels are attending the Jummah prayer
Narrated by Abu Huraira, Prophet (SAW) said, “…When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba.” – Bukhari.
15. Jummah is the day Hell-fire is not kindled
From Abu Qatadah, Prophet (SAW) the only prayer in the middle of the day, where the sun is exactly above the human’s head is only Jummah prayer. At the day the Hell-fire is not kindled.
