14 Dangers of Doing Forbidden Work in Islam

Many Muslims do not understand that Allah will reject the prayers of people who in their bodies enter illicit food which is not done by cleaning up illicit assets. Some Muslims do not care about what enters their stomach; originally delicious and economical, finally eaten. They do not know which is halal and which is haram though the food, drink, and income from the forbidden work are very influential in the life of a Muslim, even for the afterlife.

Good on the blessing of prayers, such as the law of charity with pious money and his health can be influenced by the food he consumes every day. Therefore, a Muslim is so urgent to study halal and illegitimate food. And what we are discussing this time is about the dangers of doing forbidden work in Islam.

“It is difficult to find a haram, especially looking for a lawful one,” said some people, as if it could legalize us to get unclean food. But that is the condition of worldly life today.

Many people turn upside down to work and collect property for a bite of rice, even though they have to take and get illicit food which is strictly prohibited by the religious law of the salaries of bank employees in Islam.

Because of food, our prayers cannot be accepted by God. Ibn Abbas said that Sa’ad bin Abi Waqash said to the Prophet (PBUH), “O Messenger of Allah, pray for me to be the one to be granted the prayers by Allah.” What is the response of the Prophet Muhammad, halal food is not eaten,

“O Sa’ad improve your food (eat halal food). Surely you will be the one who is always granted his prayer. And for the sake of my soul in His hands, really if there is someone who puts unclean food into his stomach, then his charity will not be accepted for 40 days and a servant whose flesh grows from the results of deception and usury, then hell is more worthy for him.” (HR At-Thabrani)

In the Quran, it is stated, “Say, explain to me about the sustenance that Allah has sent to you, then you make it partly unclean and (partly) halal.” Say, “Has God given permission to you (in matters of prohibiting and justifying) or are you just making something about God?” (Surah Yunus, 10: 59)

  1. Practices Not Accepted

The Messenger of Allah said about the way Allah gave sustenance according to Islam, “Know that bribery is forbidden if it enters the stomach of one of you, then the practice is not accepted for 40 days.” (HR At-Thabrani)

  1. Prayers Not Fulfilled

Sa’ad bin Abi Waqash asked Rasulullah, “O Messenger of Allah, pray for me to Allah so that my prayer will come true.” The Messenger of Allah replied, “O Sa’ad, repair your food, then your prayer will be fulfilled.” (HR At-Thabrani)

It is also stated in another hadith that the Messenger of Allah said, “A man traveled far, his hair was matted, his face was dusty, raised his hands to the sky and said, “O my Rabb! O my Rabb! Even though the food is unclean and the mouth is fed with the unclean, then how will the prayer be accepted?” (Muslim)

  1. Scrape the Faith

The Messenger of Allah said, “There is no drinker of khamr, when he drinks khamr, including a believer.” (Bukhari Muslim)

  1. Cast into Hell

The Messenger of Allah said, “It is not growing meat from unclean food unless hell is more important for him.” (HR At Tirmidhi)

  1. Tighten the Heart

Imam Ahmad was once asked what to do so that the heart would easily accept patience, so he replied, “By eating halal food.” (Thabaqat Al Hanabilah: 1/219)

At Tustari, a spokesman also said, “Whoever wants to reveal the signs of an honest person (shiddiqun), should not eat, except the lawful and practice the sunnah,” (Ar Risalah Al Mustarsyidin: p. 216)

  1. Hajj from Rejected Haram Treasures

The Messenger of Allah said, “If a man comes out to perform the Hajj with unclean nafaqah, then he rides a ride and says, “Labbaik, Allahumma labbaik! “Then the one in the sky calls, “No labbaik and you do not get happiness! Your provisions are unclean, your vehicle is unclean, and your hajj brings sin and is not accepted.” (HR At Thabrani)

  1. Alms are Rejected

The Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever gathers ill-gotten property, then gives it away, then there is no reward and sin for him.” (Ibn Huzaimah)

  1. Prayers Not Accepted

In the book, Sya’bul Imam stated, “Whoever buys clothes at a price of ten dirhams is among them illegitimate money, then Allah will not accept his prayer as long as the garment is worn.” (Ahmad)

  1. The Silaturrahmi Becomes Vain

The Messenger of Allah said, “He who obtains wealth from sin, then he with friendship (connecting brotherhood) or giving charity, or spending (infaq) in the way of Allah, then Allah gathers it all together, then He throws it into hell. Then the Messenger of Allah said, “The best of your religion is al-wara’ (careful).” (Abu Daud)

  1. Halal Food Inherits Pious Practices and Vice Versa

Halal foods are the provisions and at the same time the spirit of passion for doing good deeds. The proof is the word of Allah Ta’ala,

“O apostles, eat from food that is good and do righteous deeds. Verily I know what you do.” (Surah Al Mu’minun: 51). Sa’id bin Jubair and Adh Dhohak said that what is meant by food which is thoyyib is halal food (Qur’anic Interpretation Al ‘Azhim, Ibn Kathir, 10: 126)

Ibn Kathir rahimahullah said, “Allah Ta’ala in this verse commands the apostles ‘alaihimush sholaatu was salaam to eat halal and pious food. The pairing of these two orders is a sign that halal food is a generator of good deeds.

Therefore, the Prophets really paid attention to how to obtain the lawful. The Prophets exemplified us goodness with words, practice, example, and advice. May Allah give them a reply because they have given a good example to the servants.” (Al Qur’anic Interpretation zh Azhim, 10: 126)

  1. Become Lazy to Do Charity

If all this time we feel lazy and heavy to do charity, it would be nice if we correct the food and drinks that go into our stomach. Maybe something needs to be reviewed. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,

“Surely good does not bring except goodness. But is it true that property is the true good?” (Narrated by Bukhari no. 2842 and Muslim no. 1052)

  1. Cause Disease

Allah Ta’ala said,

“Give the dowry to the woman (who you marry) as a gift full of willingness. Then if they who give to you some of the dowries are happy, then eat (take) the gift (as food) that hanii’ (good) again marii-a (both the result).” (QS. An Nisa’: 4)

Al Qurthubi quoted from some ulama ‘tafsir that the purpose of the word of Allah Ta’ala “هَنِيئًا مَرِيئًا” is, “Hanii’ is a good one which is good to eat and does not have a negative effect. Whereas marii-a is one that does not cause side effects after being eaten, is easily digested, and does not cause illness or disturbance.” (Tafsir Al Qurthubi, 5:27). Of course, unclean foods cause side effects when consumed. Therefore, if we often suffer from various diseases, correct our food. Surely good does not bring except goodness.

  1. In the Hereafter, Hell is More Appropriate to Eat the Bodies That Grow From the Unclean

From Abu Bakr Ash Siddiq radhiyallahu ‘anhu, he said,

“Who has the meat grown from a job that is not lawful, then hell deserves it.” (Narrated by Ibn Hibban 11: 315, Al Hakim in mustadrok 4: 141. This hadith is sahih said Syaikh Al Albani in Shahihul Jaami ’no. 4519)

  1. The Danger of Hereafter

Look at the dangers of consuming unclean food and the impact of work that is not halal so that it affects prayer, health, good deeds, and finally, gets torture in the Hereafter from meat that comes from the unclean.

Let us pray that we are kept away from unlawful work so that the world will be happy.

[Allahummak-finaa bi halaalika ‘an haroomika, wa agh-ninaa bi fadh-lika‘ amman siwaak]

“O Allah, bestow us enough with Your lawful rites from eating the treasures that You forbid and sufficient us with Your mercy from expecting a helping hand besides You.” (Narrated by Tirmidhi no. 3563 and Ahmad 1: 153. Shaykh Al Albani said that this hadith is hasan)
