17 Spiritual Ways How To Get Sins Forgiven in Islam

Humans are a sinful being, they are not perfect. Before regretting in the future, how is the sin to be forgiven in Islam? Below here are the 17 how to get sins forgiven in Islam.

1. Do Tawbah (Repentance)

For any Muslim who want to erase the sins, they need to make repentance. Please seek forgiveness from Allah SWT. Insha Allah Allah SWT will forgive your sins. Allah also says in the Quran.

“But whoso repenteth after his wrongdoing and amendeth, lo! Allah will relent toward him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Verse 5: 39)

2. Dhikr, Istighfar, and prays

In the Qur’an Allah says.

“Yet whoso doeth evil or wrongs his own soul, then seeketh pardon of Allah will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful.” (Verse 4: 110)

3. Read Shalawat of Prophet SAW and his family

Here the following Qudsi hadith explains this.

Imam Ali Ar-Rida said,

“Whoever can not erase his sin then reproduces shalawat to Muhammad and his family, for it can erase his sin from his sins” (Bihar al-Anwar 94: 47)

4. Do some of the prostrations

Do some of the prostrations when performing Sunnah prayer. Insha Allah, our sins will fall out like the wind that sheds away the leaves on the tree. Here, is written in the hadith of Qudsi below.

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) said,

“A man came to the Prophet (s) and said,” O Messenger of Allah, have many of my sins but a little of my deeds, “then the Messenger of Allah SAW said,” Expand your prostration because the prostration sheds away the sin as the wind sheds away the leaves from the tree.” (Bihar al-Anwar 85: 162)

5. Follow the instructions and will of the Holy Prophet SAW

This is the word of Allah written in the Quran.

“Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Verse 3: 31) [AdSense-B]

6. Kindness toward both of parents

Here in the Quran Allah has explained it.

“And We have commended unto man kindness toward parents. His mother beareth him with reluctance, and bringeth him forth with reluctance, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, till, when he attaineth full strength and reacheth forty years, he saith:

 

My Lord! Arouse me that I may give thanks for the favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents and that I may do right acceptable unto Thee. And be gracious unto me in the matter of my seed. Lo! I have turned unto Thee repentant, and lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Thee).

 

Those are they from whom We accept the best of what they do, and overlook their evil deeds. (They are) among the owners of the Garden. This is the true promise which they were promised (in the world).” (Verse 46: 15-16)

7. Do the Good Deeds

In the Quran Allah says.

“O ye who believe! Guard your duty to Allah, and speak words straight to the point; He will adjust your works for you and will forgive you your sins. Whosoever obeyeth Allah and His messenger, he verily hath gained a signal victory.” (Verse 33: 70-71)

8. The Good Akhlaq

Akhlaq is a pattern of attitudes and behaviors that are inherent in human beings. By doing good behavior is able to eliminate the sins that we have done before. Below here, is the following hadith.

Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (as) said:

“Verily the good akhlaq wipes out the fault (sin) as the sun melts the ice and indeed the bad morality destroys the good (good) as vinegar destroys honey” (Bihar al-Anwar 71: 356 ) [AdSense-A]

9. Infaq

Infaq means a charity that is given without hope of reward or return. It can be given to anyone. By doing infaq, Allah will multiply his reward and forgive all the sins that you have Allah SWT also says in the Holy Quran.

“If ye lend unto Allah a goodly loan, He will double it for you and will forgive you, for Allah is Responsive, Clement,” (Verse 64: 17)

10. Be Patient

Allah SWT has explained it in the holy book of Quran.

“Save those who persevere and do good works. Theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward.” (Verse 11: 11)

11. Disaster comes to Muslim

The disaster that comes to a Muslim will be able to wash away the sins that he has done. The disasters can be poverty, accident, sadness or death. Here is the following hadith.

“A Muslim who has been accused of  accident, poverty, sadness, pain, and sorrow of thorns even if Allah will redeem his sins with what is in it.” (Hadith Muttafaq Alaih)

12. The Disease

This disease is one of the smallest disasters we have ever experienced. When the disease comes, you should pray to Allah Ta’ala, The Most Forgive. Every Muslim who prays to Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala will heal and cleanse the sins they have done. Allah Ta’ala said (in Hadith Qudsi).

“My obedient in My banquet, and My Thanksgiving in My abundance, and My dhikr in My favor, but the martyrs to Me have no part for them from My mercy. But if they repent then I am their beloved, and when they pray I will answer their prayers and when they are sick I will heal them and I will treat them with trials and calamities to cleanse them from sins and blemishes.”  (Bihar al-Anwar 77: 42)

13. The Sadness

Allah Ta’ala Will test Muslims with sadness in order to remove his sins. Here is the following hadith reported by The Messenger of Allah

“When a believer has many sins and he has not practiced anything that can take away his sins then God will test him with sadness in order to remove his sins.” (Bihar al-Anwar 73: 157)

14. Sorrow in the quest for livelihood

There are some sins of sins that can not be erased just by performing prayers and do the charity. A Muslim can only remove it with sorrow in the quest for livelihood. Here are the words of Prophet Muhammad SAW in the hadith.

“There is indeed a sin between sin that can not be erased by prayer and it is not alms,” the Prophet asked, “What can remove it from the Messenger of Allah,” he replied. The Prophet, “Sorrow in the quest for livelihood.” (Bihar al-Anwar 73: 157)

15. Death

All human beings will surely experience death. Death to a Muslim can be a savior of sin for the believer. Only Allah is able to hear our prayers when we are at the end of death. Here is one Quranic verse that explains this.

“Our Lord! Lo! we have heard a crier calling unto Faith: “Believe ye in your Lord!” So we believed. Our Lord! Therefore forgive us our sins, and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die the death of the righteous.” (Verse 3:193) [AdSense-C]

16. Do the Jihad

Jihad in Islam means fighting against the unbelievers including telling the truth even though many people oppose it. Prophet Muhammad is the highest prophet in jihad. He has done the best jihad. Muslims who commit jihad in the way of Allah then He will forgive our mistakes and the Heaven is the reward. Here is the following Quranic verse.

“And their Lord hath heard them (and He saith): Lo! I suffer not the work of any worker, male or female, to be lost. Ye proceed one from another. So those who fled and were driven forth from their homes and suffered damage for My cause, and fought and were slain, verily I shall remit their evil deeds from them and verily I shall bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow – A reward from Allah. And with Allah is the fairest of rewards.”
(Verse 3:195 )

17. Perform Hajj and Umrah

A Muslim who wants to be forgiven all his sins by Allah Ta’ala, then do Hajj and Umrah. Hajj and Umrah can be used as an eraser, especially if you do Wukuf at Arafah. Here is the following hadith.

Imam Ali b. Abi Talib (as) said:

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) has said,” From the one umrah to the next umrah is the erasing of sin between them and the accepted hajji (Allah) the reward is heaven and there is a sin between sins cannot be forgiven except by standing at Arafah. “(Bihar al-Anwar 99: 50)
