How to Teach Your Kid about Islamic Values in 5 Ways

Knowing Islamic values is important for every Muslim. There is no limit to spreading Islamic values for every Muslim, including your kid. That is why commonly parents will teach their kids from an early age.

Even though teaching your kid about Islamic values can be pretty hard, but there are so many grants from Allah if you do it properly. As your kid becomes the next generation among the Muslim community, it is better to teach them the great values of Islam.

Here we have some of the tips based on the Quran which you can apply on how to teach your kid about Islamic values. Let’s check them out below!

1. Be More Specific

As a parent facing a growing kid, you need to show them about Islamic values specifically. Tell them about Islam as their religion that is granted by Allah to them so that they become Muslim. That becomes one of the tips on how to raise your kid in Islam.

Show your kid about Islam as a religion by telling bedtime stories that may help your kid absorb it easily. Moreover, Allah mentions on the Quran surah Al Baqarah verse 132 about the matters.

And Abraham willed (say) it to his children, as well as Jacob. “O, my children! Verily Allah has chosen this religion for you, so do not die unless you are Muslim.” (QS 2:132)

2. Make a Habit

Islamic values contain so many practical things to do such as doing a good deed, taking a five-day prayer, doing fasting, and many more. Most of them need a lot of practice before becoming a habit for your kid. This may look as easier as the method you take on how to teach children to read Quran.

Taking your kid together in doing good deeds such as helping each other may help you bring the Islamic values to them. Doing a five-day prayer together with them can be another way to do it. That can be one of the ways on how to teach your children about fasting.

Such as mentioned in the Quran surah Al Anam verse 160 below.

Whoever does good will be rewarded ten times as much as his deeds. And whoever does evil is recompensed in proportion to his evil. They are not harmed in the slightest (oppressed).” (QS 6:160)

3. Responsible and Consequences

Teaching your kid about Islamic values is related to the consequences which bring them into the responsible person. Muslims know better that everything affects everything in this world and the hereafter towards Allah’s mercy.

That is why it is so important to teach your kid at an early age about Islamic values within the responsibility and consequences for them. Such as mentioned in the Quran surah Al Anam verse 164 below.

Say (Muhammad), “Should I seek a god other than Allah, even though He is Lord of all things. For every sin a person commits, he alone is responsible. And one will not carry the burden of another’s sins. Then to your Lord, you will return, and He will tell you what you used to dispute about.” (QS 6:164)

4. Reward and Punishment

Rewarding your kid after doing a good deed and their duty in Islamic values can be one of the most effective ways to do. Not only will help your kid improve their capability doing regular Islamic duty, but also makes them build a habit naturally.

Try to make a rule between you and your kid to make them understand the Islamic values in the family. Be careful about the reward that you give to your kid and balance it with the punishment if they break the rule. You can apply it when you take the way on how to teach salah to toddlers.

Such as mentioned in the Quran surah Al Hadid verse 4 below.

It is He who created the heavens and the earth six times; Then He resided on the ‘Throne. He knows what goes into the earth and what comes out of it, what comes down from the sky, and what goes up there. And He is with you wherever you are. And Allah is All-Seeing of what you do.” (QS 57:4)

5. Be Patience

To be patient with your kids while teaching them about Islamic values is important. Parents should know that kid has their process to absorb every knowledge so that they need some time to adapt.

By giving time for your kid, parents can do some evaluation in teaching progress that they do. That would improve the patience of every parent while they enjoy the process. Moreover, being patience is one of the good deeds that Allah loves the most. You can take some Quran surah to recite in the morning to reduce your anxiety about your patience.

Such as mentioned in the Quran surah Al Baqarah verse 153 below.

O you who believe! Seek help (to Allah) with patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.” (QS 2:153) So, there are some of the tips that you can apply on how to teach your kid about Islamic values. Most of them are useful which based on the Quran. Have you ever done them all?
