Islamic teaching is a way of life for all Muslim around the world. According to the Qur’an, islam promotes tolerance and peace through the act of spreading love. Islam itself means “peace” in Arabic language. Allah persuaded people to live with moral values that maintain peace with other people, so that we could experience it in our life. Having Islamic Teaching in education is important to promote peace to people, as Allah stated in the Qur’an:
“O You who believe! Enter absolutely into peace (Islam). Do not follow in the footsteps of satan. He is an outright enemy to you.” (Qur’an: 2, 208)
Besides promoting peace, the teaching of Islam through education can also promote tolerance. It is important as the growing of intolerance nowadays occur so many discrimination, hate, and violence. Tolerance is the basic teaching of Islam as written in the Qur’an:
“O you who do not believe! I worship not what you worship, and you are not worshiping what I worship; nor am I worshiping what you worship; neither -art you worshiping what I worship. Therefore, to you your religion; and to me my religion!” (Qur’an:109)
2. Islamic Teaching Provides Emotional Intelligence
Another importance of Islam in education is that it helps us gaining more emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is very needed for individual to improve either the personal competence, or social competence. There are so many things we can do to achieve a very good stage of emotional intelligence, one of them is through how we behave. The better we are, the more improved we can be. Islamic teaching apparently encourages us to do good to be better person for ourselves and each other. The encouragement to do more good can help us improving our emotional intelligence.
“And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” (Qur’an 2:159)

3. Islamic Teaching Supports Education for All Humankind
Islam knows the importance of education for the life of all humankind. Education is actually a right for all Muslim because it will help them understanding the teaching of Islam, and the lesson of the life itself. Our Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah may be upon him) once said:
“Acquisition of knowledge is binding on all Muslims (both men and women without any discrimination).” (Ibn Maja)
4. Islamic Teaching Provides a Complete Way of Life
Qur’an was sent down to the humankind as the source of knowledge. Our prophet (peace and blessing of Allah may be upon him) was blessed with Qur’an to enlighten his people regardless of their gender, identity, and social status. Qur’an was sent as a complete way of life for all Muslim. The teaching spreads from education, family life, healthiness, to modesty. Therefore, it is important to put Islamic teaching in education.
“(This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” (Qur’an, 38:29)
5. Islamic Teaching Is Filled with Righteousness
Following the path of Islam will reward you mercy for all time. To be blessed with Allah’s mercy, we need to learn being righteous in doing anything in our life. Islam, as the religion of peace persuades us to have more righteousness than harm. Islamic teaching plays a vital role in education, that it gives us lesson to keep being righteous and help us follow the path of Islam through.
“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces to the east and the west [in prayer]. But righteous is the one who believes in God, the Last Day, the Angels, the Scripture and the Prophets; who gives his wealth in spite of love for it to kinsfolk, orphans, the poor, the wayfarer, to those who ask and to set slaves free. And (righteous are) those who pray, pay alms, honor their agreements, and are patient in (times of) poverty, ailment and during conflict. Such are the people of truth. And they are the God-Fearing.” (Qur’an 2:177)

6. Islamic Teaching in Education Provides Basic Value of Our Religion
Giving Islamic teaching through education for children can help them gaining knowledge of basic value of Islam. It’s important to teach them basic value of religion since the age of young, because children usually can absorb more than adults. Islamic teaching promotes all the good thing for Muslim. By learning it through education since the young age, we can know how to have good personalities as it encourages us to be better and better. Having good personality is indeed the greatest thing we can achieve as Muslim. It is important to shape our personality well, and compete doing good as possible as we could.
“We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you. Had God willed, He would have made you a single community, but He wanted to test you regarding what has come to you. So compete with each other in doing good. Every one of you will return to God and He will inform you regarding the things about which you differed.” (Qur’an, 5:48)

8. Islamic Teaching in Education Forbids Corruption
Islamic teaching is filled with values that are beneficial to all humankind whether Muslim or not. It also forbids all thing that treats the stability, comforts, security and peace. It doesn’t persuade terror and harm, therefore, putting Islamic teaching on education will help us forbidding bad manners.
One of them is corruption. Nowadays corruption is the most growing issues in the country, it happens because maybe the doers don’t much value the teaching of religion. Therefore, it is important to have Islamic teaching in education.
“God does not love corruption”. (Qur’an, 2:205)
9. Islamic Teaching in Education is Obligated
Giving education to the next generation is obligated, and teaching them Islamic core and value is also important. Our Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah may be upon him) said:
“Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence, and tell others the stories of Bani Israel (which have been taught to you), for it is not sinful to do so. And whoever tells a lie on me intentionally, will surely take his place in the (Hell) Fire.” (Bukhari)
10. Islamic Teaching is The Guidance of All Humankind
For Muslims, Islam contains of moral and practical laws that are written in the Qur’an for all human beings. The moral and practical laws are a form of belief system that helps all Muslim in living their life and guide them to the rightest path. This ayah below told us:
“Indeed this Qur’an guides to the path which is clearer and straighter than any other.” (Qur’an, 17:9)
