Business is one of activity that can fulfill the needs of people. In Islam, it is so recommended. The Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa sallam has given an example for his people in business. He started business when he was young. He can fulfill his needs and even he can create job opportunities for others.

Everyone can do business and get success in their business, if they follow the way of Rasulullah saw in business, they are patient and they know some importance of business in Islam, such as :
In a hadith, it is narrated :
سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَفْضَلِ الْكَسْبِ فَقَالَ بَيْعٌ مَبْرُورٌ وَعَمَلُ الرَّجُلِ بِيَدِهِ (رواه أحمد)
From Hani’ bin Nayar bin Amru ra said that the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa sallam was asked about the most glorious job. He answered,
‘A mabrur trading (business) is according to shari’a and it does not contain trick factors and sins. And a job that is done by someone with his hands.” (Narrated by Ahmad)
A honest and trust businessman will be collected in the Hereafter with the Prophets, shiddiqin and syuhada’. While all of them do not have a place except the Heaven. In a hadith, Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa sallam said :
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ التَّاجِرُ الصَّدُوقُ اْلأَمِينُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ (رواه الترمذي)
From Abu Sa’id ra., from the Prophet Muhammad saw said,
“A businessman who is honest and trust, then he will be together with the Prophets, shiddiqin and syuhada’.” (Narrated by Tirmidzi)
If we find our rizq by business, then we can get blessings from Allah Subahnahu Wa Ta’ala. In a hadith, Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa sallam said :
عَنْ حَكِيمٍ بْنِ حِزَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْبَيِّعَانِ بِالْخِيَارِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا فَإِنْ صَدَقَا وَبَيَّنَا بُورِكَ لَهُمَا فِي بَيْعِهِمَا وَإِنْ كَذَبَا وَكَتَمَا مُحِقَتْ بَرَكَةُ بَيْعِهِمَا (رواه البخاري ومسلم)
From Hakim bin Hizam ra, from the Prophet of Muhammad saw said,
“Seller and buyer are free to choose while both of them have been not apart. Then if both of them are honest and they explain each other well, then they will be blessed in their business. But, if they hide defects and lies, then the blessing of that trading will be erased.” (Narrated by Bukhari – Muslim)

Many Ulama said that a businessman can arrange his time well and his life will be better. As he can spend his time to his family, do worships, spread shari’a and many more. So, no wonder if some big Ulama are also a big businessman, such as Imam Malik, Imam Al-Khattabi, etc.
In some book of Sirah Nabawiyah, it illustrated that the people of Mecca are not considered as a honorable person and have ‘mahabah’ (authority) except if he is a businessman.
[AdSense-A] By business, people can enlarge hospitality because they can interact with many people. They will meet other businessmen and consumers who buy their goods. If they are kind, honest and trust, then their consumers will be back to buy their goods.
Rasulullah saw said,
“No man get income that is better than the effort of his hands. And no man provides himself, his wife, his children and his maid, except he is accounted as shadaqah.” (Narrated by Ibn Majah)
If our business is in the way of shari’a, such as we trade honestly and we do not do corruptions, then Insha Allah, our business will be a field of rewards that can be useful in the Hereafter later.
Commonly, work and activity of somenone (include business) can determine the value and position of human in front of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’la. As His word in Surah Al-Ahqaf verse 19, which reads :
“And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.”
By own business, we can get unlimited income. If we are patient and honest in our business and we also always follow shari’a, then insha Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will give unlimited income. Because there is no vain, if we has worked hard in the eyes of Allah SWT.
If we do business, we can maximize our abilities in many aspects. Such as, we can improve our skill in trading, we can increase our mathematics, our knowledge, our interaction with others, and many more. Insha Allah, those abilities can be taught to our children. So, our family will become a success person, too.
Commonly, we start our business from zero. So that, we know about difficultness and sadness when we build our business at first time. But, if our business success, it makes us so satisfied and proud with our business. And we can also enjoy our success with our beloved family who always company us.
By having own business, we can free to innovate our business. We can create anything as what we want. We do not depend on a company. So that, our business will be unique and make people interested to our products.
As Rasulullah saw who started his business when he was young. He become a person who is more independent than others and he was a success businessman. If we follow his steps and his behaviors in business, insha Allah, we will be more independent and even we can help and make happy our parents.
Good deeds are all activities that Allah SWT likes and those are not opposite with sunnah of Rasulullah saw. As the word of Allah SWT, which reads :
“Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.” (Q.S. An-Nahl : 97)
