13 Importance of Moral Values in Islam As Identity

“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.” (68:4)

Islam is a righteous religion that saved humanity since long ago. That is why the importance of moral values in Islam is high, seeing that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent to a messy community who doesn’t worship Allah, only to guide them and bring them back to the right path.

Here are the importance of moral values in Islam:

1. Showing the True Character of a Muslim

Muslim bears the identity of Islam, so that having a good morality is a must for them. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the Messenger of Allah was sent to fixed the Makkah people who lived without any good morality. Also read Ways To Earn Good Deeds In Islam

“I was sent to perfect the noble qualities of character.” (Ahmad)

2. A Key to Enter Paradise

Entering the Jannah is a dream for every Muslim. They do anything necessary so that their path to Jannah can be easier. However, having a good character is also a key to enter it.

Someone once asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) what deed would lead a man to paradise, and he answered: “Piety and good conduct.”

3. Defining the Rank of a Muslim

“The dearest and nearest among you to me on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who is the best in conduct…” (Ibn An-Najjaar)

4. The Biggest Help for a Muslim

On the Judgment Day, a everyone stands on their own. Nothing could help him but the deeds and moral he had while he lived.

“The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, but only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart” (26:88-89)

5. As a Part of Faith

6. As a Helper in the Judgment Day

Allah SWT loves those who possess a good behavior, especially Muslims who follow the path and sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). A good behavior is so heavy that it will come as a big help.

“The heaviest thing to be placed in the balance of a believing slave on the Day of Judgement will be good behavior. And Allah hates the one who uses bad language.” (Al-Bayhaqi)

7. Perfect Quality of a Muslim

8. One of Basic Principles of Islam

Moral values lies within many of the basic principles in Islam. It defines the rank of a Muslim, as well as a help for a Muslim on the Judgement Day as well as in the Hereafter.

10. Essence of Worship in Islam

Doing prayer, fasting, doing charity, etc is a form of worship in Islam. Moral values is the essence of worship itself, since upon worshiping Allah SWT someone requires a good character and morals.

“And establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing.” (26:45)

The Best Moral Values in Islam

Moral values in Islam has defined by Allah SWT in several forms of action.

“(They are) those who are patient, those who are true, and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allah and those who spend (their wealth as Zakat and alms) and those who pray and beg Allah’s Pardon in the last hours of night.” (3:17)

Here are among the best moral values a Muslim should have:

  • Worshiping Allah SWT Obediently

Worshiping Allah SWT is the main obligation of a Muslim. It is included five times prayer a day, paying zakat, as well as other kind of worship. Whenever we worship Allah, we must bear in heart that we seek for his pleasure and blessing.

  • Having Patience

The importance of moral values in Islam is to build a good character in a Muslim, one of those being patience. By having patience, we will be able to endure the hardship of life without losing our belief to Allah SWT.

  • Doing Good Deed in the Name of Allah

Allah SWT encourages us to share our wealth with others through zakat. It should be performed in the name of Allah, with purpose to seek for His blessing only.

It is clear that the importance of moral values in Islam is to define the real character of a Muslim. As a good Muslim, we must stick to those values so that we will be able to build a strong behavior as shown by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
