Praise of Allah in Islam can takes form of saying Alhamdulilah, this words means thanks God, all praise be to Allah, all the praises and thanks to Allah. This words have a significant meaning for muslims, it is a form of grateful along with remembering that all human’s have right now are given by Allah SWT. Both sustenance, mind, knowledge, family, life, health, friends, and everything are given by Allah SWT.
But for a wide perspective we could use all words that we use in dhikr to remember Allah SWT. Remember the importance of dhikr in Islam or do you ever recalled of what is the importance of praise Allah in Islam? Why muslims are encourage to always praise Allah SWT. Here are some reasons which will make you realise of the importance of praising Allah in Islam.
1. To assured our heart
Yes, to be thankful and always remember Allah for everything He gave towards us both joy thing or sadness and test, we must always be grateful and praise Him. Here are a why we should praise Allah SWT,
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”
QS. Ar-Ra’d : 28
Indeed that Allah SWT will assured our heart if we remember Him both in sadness or happiness. Since only Allah Himself who could help us in every situation or warn us if we are too over joy.
An assured heart and mind aren’t easy to be broken down or scattered. It will help us on fight all kinds of challenges and move forwards. And that is also included as the virtue of dhikr to Allah SWT.

2. The blessing from Allah are to many
Yes, indeed another importance of praise Allah in Islam is to remember us, that the blessing from Him can never be counted. As the verses said below,
“Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded? And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. And Allah knows what you conceal and what you declare.
QS. An-Nahl : 17-19
As mentioned before that Allah SWT give us so many favor such as life, wealth, knowledge, health, and abilities to do our activities. Gain knowledge and health are never be easy, but indeed Allah SWT still give us. Don’t you remember that there are certain people who are not so lucky to gain all those things in their life. But do not worry about that since Allah SWT will raise their position in the hereafter.
3. Praise to Allah is included as worship
Allah SWT explained in one of His verse in Quran that true believers who truly worship Him are those who praise Him the most.
“O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah if it is (indeed) Him that you worship.”
QS. Al-Baqarah : 172
That praise Him is a great worship and become a benchmark for people who truly are pious. You may want to read about ways to avoid hypocrisy.
4. Severe punishment
You might ever seen people who are very lucky since he have pour with an abundance of happiness and wealthiness. And you might ever seen those people forget to whom they should praise or thankful for their possessions. Woe to that persons, warn them because what they have now only entrusted by Allah, and He could take it all away in a matter of a second.
A severe punishment also await them if they forget of Allah and never praise Him. As mentioned in the following,
“And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you (in favor), but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ “

While the form of gratitude or praise to Allah is not only on tongue but also in our action, and heart as Ibn al Qayyim said,
Gratitude may be in the heart, in submission and humility, on the tongue, in praise and acknowledgement, and in the physical faculties, by means of obedience and submission
It means that in each of our action we should be grateful to Allah, we should not be an arrogant person. Remember that we only a slave of Him. And do not associate Him with any other else. While worship or praise Allah is included as ways on how to spend spare time in Islam.

5. Lead us to tawheed
The harm of not praising Allah or remember Him is truly severe. If we deny His blessing then we will be equal to a disbelievers of kafir and has nothing to do with Islam. Acknowledge Him is an obligation for all muslims.
“They recognize the favor of Allah, then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers. And (mention) the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease (Allah).
QS. An-Nahl : 83-84
If we could acknowledge it fully and attribute blessing to Allah it will lead us into a complete tawheed. It means that we did not accosiate Allah with anything else, that He is One and Unique, that He is our Creator and the Creator of Universe and all it’s content. That He has no rivals and above everthing else, and He is our God Allah SWT.
Tawheed is the essence of our testimony that there is no God except Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and that Islam is the religion of Allah SWT.
Thus are some of the importance of praise Allah in Islam. As His servant and His creation it just a matter of obligation for us to keep remembering Him. If we keep continuing to praise Allah, He will increase our sustenance, raise our position, getting closer to Him, gaining His mercy, help us to face our lowest point life, and even praise to Allah is a form of succesful for a human both in this life or in the hereafter.
