Veil or hijab has become one of the strongest identity for Muslim women. Islam are known as a religion that valued woman so highly and protect them through and through. It makes the importance of veil high as well. By wearing veil, a Muslim woman covered her body from other, showing what are necessary such as palm of hand and the face while the rest belongs to her husband and only her mahrams who are allowed to see more that what are covered.
“Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.” – An-Nur (24:30)

1. It Represents Faith
If a woman said she has her complete faith in Islam and Allah SWT, she must proves it in many ways. Wearing veil shows that a woman is obeying her Creator’s command and connected herself to Him. Veil is more than a symbol and identity. It’s a religious obligations for every Muslim woman with no exception. It means she has submit herself to Allah SWT.

2. As an Obedience to Allah SWT
Veil is also a symbol of a woman’s obedience to Allah SWT and proving that she has her faith in Islam. The command for woman to wear veil is directly from Allah SWT.
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves (part) of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” – Al-Ahzab (33:59)
3. To Protect Woman
The importance of veil in Islam is more than just identity or obedience. It also benefited the woman herself, as she is protecting herself by the veil she wears. Many people backed from doing harm and misdeed to a veiled woman. Nowadays woman are still the subject of rape and sexual abuse, so that wearing veil won’t wake the nafs of men upon seeing her body.

4. It Shows a Woman’s Modesty
A woman being modest by wearing veil, at the same time prevent men to do harm to herself. The veil she wears show that she is a subdued woman to be respected and not easily bothered by anyone. She takes herself as the most precious and nobody can mess with it.
5. As the Decency of a Woman
Veil is a decency and modesty of a woman, mirror to her inner true self. Veil is hijab in Islam, which means cover. As much as Islam preciously valued a woman’s body, covering it is the best way to protect it. Even Allah SWT has commanded Muslim women to wear veil since long time ago.

6. Preventing Harassment
Sexual harassment, rape, and abusive treatment to women still exist in a modern society. Islam has fully aware of the fact and protect its women from experiencing such horrible events by covering most of her body. Allah has said in the Holy Quran:
“This is more appropriate so that they may be known [as Muslim women] and thus not be harassed [or molested].” – Al-Ahzab (33:59)
7. A Form of Worship
The main purpose of human creation in this world is to obey and worship Allah SWT at all costs. Doing prayers diligently and reciting the Quran everyday is not the only form of worship. More than that, Allah has said in the Holy Quran, as given to the Prophet (peace be upon him) that modestly dressed one’s self is also a form of worship which resulted in pleasure of Allah SWT.
8. To Gain the Virtue of Hijab
Wearing veil to show modesty of a Muslim woman is an important kind of worship as prayer. The order was given directly by Allah SWT as it’s written inside the Holy Quran, guidance for all Muslim in the world. There are many virtues from wearing veil a woman would gain such as honor and protection.

9. Showing the Pureness of Heart
Allah said in the Quran,
“And when you ask (the Prophet’s wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen: that is purer for your hearts and for their hearts.” Al-Ahzab (33:53)
10. To Pure One’s Heart
Veil has a special virtue to purify a woman’s heart, as it acts as protection and shield from any bad actions and thought. Veil is not meant to restrict woman but to protect her instead.
11. To Protect from Evil Deeds
Islam prevents its believer from trapped in an awkward and unwanted situation. When a woman wear veil or hijab, she is protected and safeguarded from any misdeed and evil.

12. Eliminates Competition Among Women
Veil or hijab has proven to cut down any competition among Islam woman. Although Islam valued a woman who rich in knowledge, piety, and have many contributions for the society, the existence of veil prove that a woman can be beautiful by modesty and she doesn’t have to be the most popular one. It makes a woman comfortable in doing her activities without having to worry about other’s judgement towards her physique.
13. Shows Woman’s Intelligence
By wearing veil, men and other people in the society will focused on a woman’s brain instead, not necessarily her body so that she appears to be intelligence in other people’s eyes.
14. Increases Woman’s Self Esteem
Veil prevent woman from worrying too much about physical appearance so that she doesn’t have to worry how she will looked like. She can focused her mind in other things and not to spend too much money on fashion.
