Islam is a complete religion that pays attention to every single aspects of Muslims’ life, from physical matter to small habits like eating. In Islam, there are two kinds of food and drink which strictly prohibited: alcohol and pork. It has been common that Pork is a food that forbidden to Muslims, under any conditions and situation.
About the prohibition of pork in Islam, our religion is not the only one. Bible also prohibit its believer to eat pork. What are the reasons on prohibition of pork in Islam? Here are the answer.
1. The Foods Pigs Eat
Pork are produced from the pigs, who have a very dirty living. Pigs can eat literally anything, including their own feces. The feces the pigs eats will easily grow cancer cells inside their stomach and easily transmitted to human’s body once the meat reach their stomach. Pigs feces are another gross thing, where lethal and dangerous insects can be found. For addition, pigs use their own urine as drinks.

2. Toxins Inside Pork
Nobody want to endanger their health. The best way to maintain a healthy body is by avoiding pork. Compared with any other animals, pork absorbs toxins very easily. It means that pork contains many toxins, and some of them could be deadly for us, human.
3. Pigs are Not Intoxinated
One more reasons of the prohibition of pork in Islam is because pigs do not sweat. While all the body toxins are released through sweats, it only means that the pigs’ toxins merged into their body, along the meat. When the toxins enter a human’s body, it may caused cancer cells to grow.

4. Pigs are Hard to Kill
Unlike any other animal who are easy to be killed and later processed as foods, it requires extra effort to kill pigs. Even poison like Strychnine won’t work for pigs. Their bodies are very poisonous that poison does not work.
5. Pigs are Poisonous
Other than hard to kill, there is one more proof that pigs are very poisonous. While snakes are well know as deadly poisonous animal, turns out they are no match for pigs. The poison inside a pig’s body is stronger than one is a snake’s body. Even farmers nowadays use pigs to guard their farms since snakes won’t be able to kill then even when they’re bitten.

6. Pig’s Meat Eaten Faster
Pork are very dirty and contain many toxins that it draws attention of any kind of living being. When a pig’s dead, its meat will be eaten by maggots, insects, and bacteria to add the poison and dirt. And compared to other animals, pork are eaten faster.
7. Germs in Pork Can’t be Killed
Some people think that once pork is cooked, all the bacteria and germs will be killed just like in beef and chicken meat. This is all wrong though. Up until now, there are no certain or safe temperature to cook pork and kill all the bacteria in it. Means that all the germs and bacteria in pork are still alive no matter what.

8. Fats in Pork
Excessive amount of animal fat is not good for human. That is why the consumption of beef must be limited. While beef has contained lots of fat already, pork has it 4 times more. Which increases the risk of heart disease and other heart problems.

9. Pigs Take Longer to Digest Food
With 4 stomachs, a cow digests foods as soon as it enters it stomach. So that the toxins and other excess could be immediately eliminated. But pigs are having a hard time to digest the foods they eat. The process is too long that it turns the foods into flesh without eliminating the toxins in it.

10. Pork Contained Diseases
There are roughly 30 diseases inside pork. All the diseases that brought by bacteria will be easily transmitted to human’s body and causes numbers of serious diseases. This is one the strongest reason for prohibition of pork in Islam.
What are the base for prohibition of pork in Islam? Here are some from Quran and Hadith, which explains about pigs, pork, and swine.
“Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience”. – Al Maida (5:3)
Say, “I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine – for indeed, it is impure – or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah” – Al An’am (6:145)
“He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah”. – Al Baqara (2:173)
“When God and His Messenger have decreed a matter, they (the believers) should not have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys God and His Messenger; he has indeed strayed into a plain error.” – (Al Ahzab :36)
“‘We hear and we obey.’ And such are the successful (who will live forever in Paradise).” (An Nuur: 51)
