Allah is The Creator of the universe who we must worship. Only Allah who must be worshiped, there is no ally for Him. Believing in Allah is the first pillar of faith and the law is obligatory for us to do it.
The attitude and behavior of believers are certainly different with the attitude and behavior of unbelievers. Believing in Allah is not only proven verbally and by heart, but also it must be reflected through actions in daily life.
The following are the characteristics of believing in Allah in Earnest that we must apply in the life.
There is A Fear of Allah
A believer must have fear in his heart when he hears the name of Allah. That fear of Allah comes up as a form of love and glorification towards Him.
Allah Ta’ala said,
إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ
“Indeed, the believers are those who, if they are mentioned by the name of Allah, their hearts tremble.” (QS. Al-Anfal: 2)
The benefit of believing in Allah SWT from the appearance of fear is to avoid the immoral acts that cause sin. For example, someone who will do immoral acts, then he hears the name of Allah that is mentioned by someone by saying, “Remember Allah that what you will do is something that He forbids.”. Then fear comes up and he undoes his bad intention to do immoral acts.
Touched When Listening to the Reading of the Qur’an
The Qur’an is the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala that was revealed through the Prophet Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. The sentences that are arranged in the Qur’an are beautiful sentences that are second to none in this world. The previous story and message from Allah in it is the best guide that Allah sent down for His people.
The characteristic of a person who believes in Allah is that he will feel touched when he listen to the reading of the Qur’an nearby. Touched here is touched, the awareness comes up, and the faith in Allah increases. As the words of Allah below.
وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰنًا
“and if it is read His verses, their faith increases (because of it).” (QS. Al-Anfal: 2)
Therefore, those who always keep their relationship with the Qur’an and know how to keep memorizing the Qur’an, insha Allah they are kept away from the intention of doing immoral acts or the sinners.
Fear Allah Only
Taqwa is a full trust in Allah, justify Him and only fear of Him. The law of fearing Allah SWT is obligatory. Believers certainly only fear Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
“and only to their Rabb they are tawakkul.” (QS. Al-Anfal: 2)
Always Keeping Shalat
Shalat is a special worship that is obligated to every Muslim all around the world. People who believe in Allah will always keep the shalat and not leave it no matter what the condition is.
Allah Ta’ala said,
اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ كِتٰبًا مَّوْقُوْتًا
“Indeed, shalat is an obligation that the time is determined for the believers.” (QS. An-Nisa: 103)
It is better if after shalat, we practice the reading of prayer and dhikr after shalat as a form of gratitude and faith in Allah.
Those are the characteristics of believing in Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Hopefully it can give good benefits to all readers. Aamiin.
