Syaikh Abdurrahman as-Sa’di when he explained the meaning of Wur’an surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 above, he said,
“This good paragon (Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), that will get tawfik (from Allah Ta’ala) to follow him is only people who hope (blessings) of Allah and (reply the kindness) in the Dommsday. Becaus (the perfectness) faith, the fear of Allah, and the hope of replying kindness and the fear of Allah’s torment, these are motivating someone to follow (sunnah) Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.” [The Book of Taisiirul Kariimir Rahmaan page 481]
- Get mahabbatullah (The love of Allah Ta’ala)
One way to close to Allah Ta’ala is doing all things that He recommend to us. So we will get His love. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala said,
“Say, [O Muhammad], “if you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Q.S. Ali Imran : 31)

- Cover the lack of obligatory deeds
There is only a little human who can do the command of Allah Ta’ala perfectly because it is something that hard to get it. There must be a weakness in the implementation of doing obligations.
For example, we are less solemn to do the daily five prayers, our fasting are tarnished by ghibah, namimah and others. Those things can decrease the value and reward of a believer. But, the grace and mercy of Allah Ta’ala are very wide. He makes nafilah (sunnah worship) to cover the lack of obligatory deeds.
- As an assurance of salvation from bid’ah
Al-Imam az-Zuhri rahimahullah effirmed, “In the past, our Ulama said, ‘hold on as –Sunnah is a safety’.” (Narrated by ad-Darimi number 97). Its means that It can safe us from all fallacy and apostasy.
The biggest is the safety from bid’ah that can bring us to the bridge of infidelity. As the word of al-Imam Malik rahimahullah, “As-Sunnah is like Nuh’s ship. Whoever board ir, save; whoever left from it, damn!.”
- Avoid from division
Indeed, if Moslems hold on the sunnah of Rasulullah saw, they will not fall into confilct that can cause division between them. Syaikhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyah said, “Bid’ah is always accompanied by division, as that sunnah is always accompanied by unity.” (Al-Istiqamah 1/42)
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala also says : “And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.” (Q.S Ali Imran : 105)

- One way to honor the symbols of Allah
In this case, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says, “That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah, it is from the piety of hearts.” (Q.S. Al-Hajj : 32).
Between the most glorious symbol of Allah SWT is sunnah of Rasulullah saw. So that, if we take care and spread it to others, it is a form of exaltation and honor those symbols that can raise people who have the piety of hearts.
- Be granted your dua
Whoever close to Allah Azza Wa Jalla, they will get love from Him. And if the love of Allah has been reached, your dua will be granted by Him. As the hadith from Abu Hurairah, Rasulullah saw said,
“Indeed Allah said : “Whoever against My Messenger, then I has announced a war to him. No thing that I prefer from a servant who close to Me, except he does things that I command to him. And indeed My servant [with a reason] always close to Me with sunnah deeds, I also love him.
Then if I have loved him, I become his listener that hear him. I become his eyes that he sees with it. I become his hand that he hits with it.
I become his foot that he walks on it. If he asks Me, I will grant it. If he asks protection from Me, then I will protect him. If he refuses something that he hates, I will do it. And that believer hates bad death, then I will avoid from him.” (Narrated by Bukhari)
