13 Useful Tips for Childbirth in Islam

The process of human creation in Islam has been explained by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in the sources of Islamic law, namely Quran and hadith. Quran explains that human was created from extract of clay.

In Quran Surah Al-Mu’minun verses 12 – 13, Allah said :

“And certainly, did We create man from an extract of clay. The We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.”

“Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.” (Q.S. Al-Mu’minun verse 14)

In the creation of man, Allah SWT saves the semen that will become the embryo in the womb of women, it is called pregnancy in Islam. And in gestation period, embryo grows into a human form (baby), then when that gestation period has reached the age of nine months, the embryo who has become a baby will be born to the world by the woman who has conceived it. And there are some tips for childbirth in Islam.

All of pregnant women will want to give birth easily and safely. Given birth is the heaviest process that must be faced by pregnant women. A mother needs a great sacrifice to give birth her baby to the world. It is one of virtues from pregnant women to get the reward of jihad. And here are some tips for childbirth in Islam :

  1. Multiply the reading verses of Quran

Allah is all Knowing what happens to every his servants, and Allah SWT has assigned everything according to its size.

In Quran Surah Ar’Rad verse 8, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala said :

“Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs lose [prematurely] or exceed. And everything with Him is by due measure.”

With reading the verses of Quran regularly, Insha Allah Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will make easy the process of her birth.

  1. Multiply Istighfar

Istighfar is praying for forgiveness to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. There are many virtues in istighfar that can be useful for someone who did it. And someone who is giving birth, by multiplying istighfar, insha Allah, Allah will ease the process of her birth. Because one of istighfar’s virtues is easing the problem being faced.

In a hadith, Rasulullah SAW said :

“Whoever gets used to say istighfar, Allah will give a way out for him from every difficulty, He will give happiness from every adversity, and He will give rizq from the unexpected direction.”

  1. Go through the process of pregnancy as a worship

A woman who go through her process pregnancy and consider her pregnancy as a worship, insha Allah, Allah will always give his grace and help to that person.

  1. Trying to enjoy the pain

When a woman is pregnant, she must feel pain especially when the process of giving birth. But, that would be nice if a woman who is feeling pain in the process of giving birth made her pain as a pleasure. For indeed, that pain is an eraser sins for her.

  1. Not many complain

When you will give birth, complaining is not a useful thing to be done. It is better for you, if you say many istighfar. Because complaining does not give you calmness. [AdSense-A]

  1. Listening verses of Quran

Before childbirth process, multiply to listen verses of Quran. So that, you will get the peace of heart and mind.

  1. Positive thinking

When the gestation period and the time of giving birth come, a pregnant woman should think positive. So, her mind and heart will be more calm.

  1. Do not swear

When you feel sick, sometimes a woman who is giving birth unconsciously says harsh words, but that things are better to be not done. Because swearing does not contain any kindness and she will be better to say istighfar. You may also read prohibitions of pregnant women in Islam.

  1. Follow doctor’s advices and sayings

During childbirth process, a pregnant woman should follow the instruction from doctor who handle her because doctor is know more about his knowledge and field.

  1. Surrender

When the process of giving birth, it would be nice if that woman surrender to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala because Allah is the Almighty above all everything in this world and only to Him, we return.

  1. Eating Dates

Maryam gave example to us that before and after giving birth of the Prophet Isa as., she ate dates. Insha Allah, it will give us energy when we were pushing out the baby.

  1. Drink Olive Oil

Drinking olive oil regularly during pregnancy will ease childbirth, so the childbirth process can be very fast and smooth. It will also hinder the pain that come to attack us.

  1. Drink honey

Drinking honey will also strengthen our physique during childbirth, as we know, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala privileges these olive oil and an animal which produces honey as names of Surah in Quran. You may also read benefits of honey in Islam.

Evidently, in Quran there are some verses that can help to ease childbirth process. What verses are they? Here they are

  • Q.S Fathir : 11

“And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.”

  • Q.S. An-Nahl : 78

“And Allah has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and intellect that perhaps you would be grateful.”

  1. Q.S. Al-Zalzalah : 1 – 8

“When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake. And the earth discharge its burdens. And man says, “What is [wrong] with it?” That Day, it will report its news because your Lord has commanded it. That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds. SO whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”

Before childbirth, there are many practices of pregnant women that can be done, it will ease and calm their heart when the process of giving birth later. And when it comes, they should always surrender and pray to Allah SWT.

So that, everything will work out the way you want. Allah SWT is the Almighty and Most Gracious, He will grant every request of His obedient servants.
