“O, people! Indeed, you have learned a lesson (the Qur’an) from your Lord, a cure for a disease in the chest and guidance and mercy for a believer.” (QS 10:57)

Based on the verse above, here we give you 5 ways on how to overcome a guilty feeling in Islam based on the Quran.

1. Guilty Cause Despair, Leave it Back!

Feeling guilty make someone keep blaming themselves. If it happens all the time, then the feeling will grow in their heart and turn into despair. This can be worst when the guilty feeling becomes stronger and from despair turn into depression.

It’s very dangerous for a human being because depression can make people feel so bad.  That is why we need to overcome the guilty feeling and try to make dua for hardship in Islam.

In the Quran Surah Yusuf verse 87 mentions that:

“O, my children! Go, look for (news) about Joseph and his brother, and do not despair from the grace of God. Those who despair of Allah’s grace are only those who disbelieve. ” (QS 12:87)

2. Guilt is a Source of Diseases, Throw It A Way!

The guilty feeling can cause any of the diseases so that the feeling claims as to the resourceful of diseases. Once you get the guilt, you will feel miserable. It can cause you into a binge eating or any eating disorder. Because you feel the guilt so hard on you so that you can jump into an eating disorder.

If you jump into binge eating then it can turn you into obesity. And obesity can cause so many diseases such as heart attack or so.

“If they repent and offer their prayers and give alms, then give them freedom. Truly, Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful.”(QS 9:5)

3. Repent Promptly

As soon as you realized that you made a mistake, even if that the little or the biggest one that causes you the guilt. Allah loves them who make the repenting as soon as possible they can.

Moreover, if you love Allah in every way you move you will keep repenting for every sin you made. That is the most way to keep us from the guilty feeling. In the Quran surah, Ali Imran verse 31 mentions that.

“Say (Muhammad), “If you love Allah, follow me, surely Allah loves you and forgives your sins.” Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (QS 3: 31)
