The basic principle with animals hunting in Islam is about to keep it in Islamic law. There are some rules about hunting in Islam, such as concerning the land game for a wild animal. Even though it is permissible, but you have to obey the rule written in the Quran.
Follow the importance of food in Islam so may you become more grateful. Animals hunting becomes unlawful if it does by the time of the Haram months during Hajj or Umrah. On the Quran surah, Al Maidah verse 1 mentions about these eating habits in Islam.
“O, believers! Keep promises. Livestock is permissible for you, except what will be mentioned to you, by not justifying hunting when you are on ihram (Hajj or Umrah). Indeed, Allah establishes the law according to what He wills.” (QS 5:1)
Based on that verse above, there are some rules about animal hunting you should follow in Islam. It includes the tool you use for the hunt and the animal that permissible for the hunt.
1. Term and Condition For the Hunter
The hunter must be at least 17 years old or so as they are legally permitted for hunting. They must have a conscious mind while hunting. They have to know about their responsibilities for hunting an animal. It is not permissible if they hunt just for fun only.
As mention on the Quran surah, Al Anam verse 38 mentions that every animal are Allah creatures just like human.
“And there is not an animal on the earth or birds that fly with both wings, but all are people (also) like you. There is nothing that we escape in the Book, then to God, they are gathered.” (QS 6:38)
2. Term and Condition for the Prey
The prey should be animal that lawful to eat based on the Quran and Islamic law. The animal should be wild naturally. Don’t hunt to animal that may harm you back, such as crocodile, lion or any kind of carnivors.
On the Quran surah Al Maidah verse 4 mentions that we should only eat what is lawful from the nature.
“O, believers! Do not violate the symbols of the sanctity of Allah, and do not (violate the honor) the forbidden months, do not (disturb) the Hadyu (sacrificial animals) and qala’id (sacrificial animals marked), and do not (also) disturbing people who visit Baitulharam; they seek the gift and pleasure of their Lord. But if you have completed Ihram, then you may hunt. Do not let (your) hatred towards a people because they prevent you from the Holy Mosque, encourage you to go beyond (to them). And please help you in (doing) virtue and piety, and do not help in committing sin and enmity. Fear Allah, truly, Allah is very severe in His torment.” (QS 5:4)
3. Hunting From Sea
Hunting in a game land is permissible as long as you follow the Islamic law, it is also permissible if it came from the sea. You still can eat the animal you get form it as long as it is lawful as food.
On the Quran Surah Al Maidah verse, 96 mentions about this reason why sea creatures are halal in Islam.
“It is permissible for you to hunt sea animals and food (which comes from the sea) as delicious food for you, and for those who are on your way; and forbidden to you (capture) land animals, as long as you are ihram. And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered (back).” (QS 5:96)
4. The Hunting Weapon
The weapon you use for hunting must be ready enough for hunt. It pictures with something sharp enough to flesh the animal properly. It is not permissible with something that sharp in the edge only because it will harm the animal.
It is permissible to hunt with shotgun and animal that trained for hunt. This means that you slaughtered the animal properly. Then it becomes the food that lawful for you.
5. Hunt The Lawful Animal Only
You may be confused about which one of those animals can be lawful in wild nature. In Islamic law, if the animal becomes prohibit under the law so it is unlawful to eat. If the animal is still so young, it is also unlawful to eat. Don’t eat what makes food haram in Islam.
In the Quran surah AL Baqarah verse 165 mention this.
“ O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth (that is) lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.” (QS 2:165)
So, there are 5 rules that you should follow while hunting. Be careful while you hunt and utter the name of Allah before you throw your weapon. May Allah give His blessing so that you will know how to make your faith in Islam stronger.
