The Meaning of Salawat Nariyah
We often recite salawat to praise the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam. Evidently, it has a special definition either according to language or term.
The word of salawat comes from “salla” or “shalat”. Salawat is a plural from that two words which means dua. By language, salawat is meant as a dua. As it is mentioned in the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala Surah At-Taubah verse 103 below :
خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِمْ بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّ صَلَاتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَهُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
“Take [O Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah’s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (At-Taubah : 103)
While based on the terms, salawat is meant as praise to Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam. As it is mentioned in the following verse :
نَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
“Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophey, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.” (Al-Ahzab : 56)
Salawat Nariyah is known as Salawat Tafrijiya. It is called as Salawat Nariyah because there are people who said that this salawat was created by Syekh Nariyah. Syekh Nariyah lived in the era of Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam or he was known as one of companions the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam. [AdSense-B]
The History and Reading of Salawat Nariyah
As this is mentioned earlier, that salawat nariyah was created by Syekh Nariyah as one form of praise too Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Although some parties doubt it, reciting Salawat Nariyah is still allowed. This Salawat is intended to praise Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam for all of his efforts to spread Islam and establish tawhid at that time. The reading of Salawat Nariyah is :
“Allahumma sholli shollatan kamilah wa sallim salaman. Taman ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadiladzi tanhallu bihil ‘uqodu wa tanfariju bihil kurobu. Wa tuqdhobihil hawa iju wa tunna lu bihiro ‘ibu wa husnul khowatim wa yustaqol ghomawu biwaj hihil kariim wa ‘ala aaliji washosbihi fii kulli lamhatin wa hafasim bi’adadi kulli ma’luu mi laka ya robbal ‘aalamiin.”
The meaning :
“O Allah Our Lord, bestow seamless salutation and perfect peace upon our master Muhammad – through whom difficulties and calamities are relieved, needs are fulfilled, aspirations are attained, the best outcomes are achieved, and the clouds deliver their rain by virtue of his noble countenance. And bestow such salutations and peace upon his family and his companions at every moment that lasts the duration of the flickering of an eye or the drawing of breath, and do so to the number of everything that is known to You, O Lord of the Worlds.”
Benefits of Salawat Nariyah

Salawat Nariyah or it is also known as Salawat Tafrijiyah (Salawat that release difficultness), it is believed that it can ease rizq if it was read 11 times. Salawat is a dua. So that it can be a conductor of dua if someone asked for ease to get rizq. Imam Dainuri also mentioned that reading salawat nariyah 11 times after do Fardh Prayer can make someone’s fortune uninterrupted and it has a level like rich people.

قال رسول الله صلعم ” من صلى علي كل يوم مائة مرة وفي رواية من صلى علي في اليوم مائة مرة قضى الله له مائة حاجة سبعين منها في الاخرة وثلاثين في الدنيا .
“Whoever recite Salawat to me every day 100 times, in another narration said whoever recite Salawat to me 100 times in a day, then Allah will fulfill for him 100 intentions that the 70 will be given in the afterlife and the 30 will be given in the world.”

“Whoever his needs is difficult, then let you multiply with salawat, in sati history : then he multiply with salawat to me, then indeed it can open sadness and narrowness and it can increase rizq and all intents will be fulfilled.”
