Prayer in Islam the most important kind of worship. It combined the physical, mental, and spiritual acts all in one deeds. The high importance of a prayer in Islam shown as it included in one of the five pillars in Islam. Prayer is a command that given to our Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him) directly during the Isra’ Mi’raj.
“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah. Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them. And who believen in what has been revealed to you, (O Muhammad), and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain (in faith). Those are upon (right) guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (QS. Al-Baqarah :2-5)
But what about a Muslim who doesn’t do praying? Here are many of the effects of not praying on Islam:
1. It Considered as Disbelieving Act
There are big difference between believing and disbelieving in Islam: prayer. It was said by our Prophet (peace be upon him) himself.
“Between faith and unbelief is abandoning the prayer.” (Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Musnad)
Allah SWT also stated in the Quran that leaving prayer is equal to denying Islam.
“And when it is said to them, ‘Bow (in prayer),’ the do not bow. Woe, that Day, to the deniers. Then in what statement after the Qur’an will they believe?” (Al-Mursalat : 48-50)
2. Dragged to the Hellfire
Praying is very important in Islam that the punishment for those who leaves prayer behind, a big punishment awaits: to be dragged to the Hellfire.
“(And asking them), ‘What put you into Saqar?’ They will say, ‘We were not of those who prayed.” (Al-Muddaththir : 42-43)
Saqar is the name of the most deadly hell. It’s the biggest warning Allah SWT has given to us, so we must put into mind how important prayer is.

3. Not a Single Reward is Given to Us
There are rewards and punishments fro every good and bad deeds we commit. Upon doing prayers, Allah SWT promised us great blessing throughout life. Thus, Muslims who are not performing prayers will not receive any single reward for Allah SWT.
“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (Al-Baqarah : 277)
4. Unable to Erase the Sins
Sins can only be erased by repentance and doing as many good deeds as we can. Among those good deeds is prayer. Muslims who leaves prayer behind lost their greatest opportunity to erase their sins.

5. Other Deeds Won’t be Accepted
There are people who think that leaving prayer is not a big deal while we do many other good deeds such as charity and zakat. But as prayer is more important than charity, all the sadaqa we do will be in vain if we don’t do prayers.
“And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling.” (At-Tawbah : 54)
6. Keep the Peace Away from Life
Prayer is a good way to prevent stress and seeking peace in life. So that the effects of not praying on Islam is the peace will be taken away from us.
“Recite, (O Muhammad), what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.” (Al-Ankabut : 45)

7. Jannah is Far Away
For ever Muslims, Jannah is the last destination in the afterlife. But Jannah is made for obligatory Muslims only, those who perform Salat or prayer when they lived. The key to open the door of Jannah is only prayer.
“The key to Paradise is prayer, the key to prayer is wudu (ablution).” (Ahmad)
8. Losing Allah’s Protection
Prayer has many benefits to ourselves. One of them is it provides us with protection from any evil being ad evil deeds. By praying, Allah SWT stay close to us and we fell assured all the times. It means that leaving Salat make us los all the protection Allah SWT could give us.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“Whoever abandons the five daily salats will be deprived of the protection and security of Allahu ta’ala.” – (Ibn Majah)

9. Unable to Escalate Our Grade
The best Muslim is not them who do many charity, nor the one who possess wealth. It’s the one who diligently perform prayers who is in the highest grade in Islam. Muslins are able to escalate their grade little by little through paryers.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
“If a person cleans himself thoroughly at home and goes one of the mosques in order to perform one of Allah’s obligatory acts, one of his steps erases his sins while the other raises his grade.” – (Muslim)
10. Be Prepared for Allah’s Wreath
The wrath of Allah SWT is nothing anyone would like to experienced. What cause Allah SWT to be severely angry is when a Muslim leave his biggest obligations: to perform salat.
As reported from Ibn Abbas, the Prophet said,
“When a person who abandons prayers reaches Allah, he will see that Allah will have inflicted His wrath on him.” (Bazzar, Tabarani, Majma’uz Zuwaid)

More Negative Effects
Here are more to the negative effects or not praying in Islam:
- Lost the direction in life
- Unable to find balance
- Facing endless problems everyday
