17 Simple Ways How to Have Confidence in Islam

Having confidence is important to do all activities because it is a character that makes us believe in ourselves. It can change everything that we do and make it better and more meaningful. However, not many people can have confidence because they are too shy and don’t want to show it to everyone.

Confidence can be channeled and shared with everyone and make them get some benefits too. Islam also teaches to all the followers to have a confidence in every self because it is the key to get success in this life.

Here is presented how to have confidence in Islam.

1. Read Qur’an

The confidence and belief will grow stronger and better for several reasons: Among the main base, a servant hears and experiences with his heart and ears the content of the verses of the Qur’an and Nabawi hadiths that show about greatness, goodness, perfection, and strength of Allah SWT in creation with the truth of apostles and Prophet.

The perfection of their doctrine as well as the evidence they have in the form of miracles and punishments of what befell those who deny and oppose them. It is also about the reward that will be obtained by good people and punishment for those who oppose later on the Day of Judgment.

And is (it) not sufficient for them that We revealed to you the Book (which) is recited to them? Indeed, in that, surely is a mercy and a reminder for a people who believe. (Al-Ankabut 29:51)

2. Do not feel inferior to others

In the letter of Ali Imran verse 139 explains that as a human you do not have to have a weak mentality, be confident because humans are created by Allah SWT in the highest degree state. In addition, we are the same with others so there are no gaps that separate us with them. Feeling inferior can make us feel not confident especially if people have already begun to look down at us.

And (do) not weaken and (do) not grieve and you (will be) [the] superior, if you are believers. (Al-Imran 3:139)

3. Stand on Allah’s side

In Surah Fusshilat verse 30 explains to you not to be afraid and sad in life. We must be trustful to be the Muslims because we have God that is Allah SWT and He has promised paradise to His people. We must stand on Allah’s side and have His courage that will make us more confident in facing anything.

Indeed, those who say, “Our Lord, (is) Allah,” then stand firm – will descend on them the Angels, “(Do) not fear, and (do) not grieve but receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you were promised. (Fussilat 41:30)

4. Convinced of Allah’s help

Allah will not inflict bad for His servants who believe in Him. All that He did to His servants must be for the good of the servant. However, many people do not realize it so that when they get disaster or problem, they are grumpy and prejudice to Allah. We must believe that Allah will help us in all conditions so we can gain more confidence from the power of Allah.

O you who believe! If you help Allah, He will help you and make firm your feet. (Muhammad 47:7) [AdSense-B]

5. Increase our faith and iman

Having faith and iman will make us get more confident in facing difficulties and problems. It is because they will help us as a spirit and strength in our body to overcome them. We must not underestimate faith and iman because we can’t do anything and will become a weak person without these.

And know that among you (is the) Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, surely you would be in difficulty, but Allah has endeared to you the Faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief and defiance and disobedience. Those (are) they – the guided ones. (Al-Hujurat 49:7)

6. Have a big dream

To have a confidence, we can have a big dream and it will motivate us to get it with all our strength. This dream will be always in our mind anytime and anywhere so we need to do something about it and achieve it with our ways. We must have a dream so our life will not feel boring and it is the key to still move on and live happily in this world.

For those who do good (is) the best and more. And not (will) cover their faces dust and not humiliation. Those (are the) companions (of) Paradise, they in it (will) abide forever. (Yunus 10:26) [AdSense-A]

7. Always believe in Allah

We must believe in Allah and put our trust in Him so we can have a confidence when facing difficulties and problems. By believing only in Allah, we also get the love and help from Him that can raise our moral and confidence. Allah will not leave His servant alone and we must remember this so we always pray and never start negative thinking about Allah.

And He will provide for him from where not he thinks. And whoever puts his trust upon Allah, then He (is) sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah (will) accomplish His purpose. Indeed, Allah has set for everything a measure. (At-Talaq 65:3)

8. Pray to Allah to get courage

“O Allah, lay my chest, make my affair easy, and let loose my tongue, that they may understand my words.”

There are sometimes that we feel very nervous when doing something such as speak in public and can’t say any words or can’t speak like we usually do. In this case, we can pray to Allah to get courage and confidence.

This is a prayer that we can read when we will speak in public. If you feel nervous when going to a speech or giving a speech, you can read this prayer before speaking. Insha Allah, we will be given strength by Allah so we can confidently speak in public.

9. Give the best effort

We must give our best effort when doing something so it can raise our confidence. By giving our best effort, it can also influence the other people and they will start to recognize and praise us. This also can increase our confidence and will be resistant to the difficulties so we can face everything with a straight head.

Indeed, your efforts (are) surely diverse. (Al-Layl 92:4)

10. Smile a lot

Smiling can take a few seconds to make you more relaxed, even the most exciting moments. This is because the smile has a close relationship with positive thoughts about the circumstances you will face. And with a smile, will not only show a cheerful expression on the face, but also release endorphin hormones that make our feelings calmer, and improve blood circulation in the face. So with a smile, you will appear more confident and ready to face any situation.

“Thou shalt not underestimate the goodness of the slightest, even if only by meeting with your brother with a radiant face”. (H.R. Muslim no 2626)

11. Self-introspection and correct it

If we have experienced something unexpected, and in fact shake or confidence, then try to repeat the situation with optimism and positive thinking. Do not forget, at the end of the story, self-correction should also be done because who knows in the future we will experience the same situation. And when it happens, we hope we can handle it better.

12. Never discriminate others

We must never discriminate and insult other people because it can make us feel arrogant and superior to the others. It will affect our confidence because it will not be a positive vibe again but it will become a negative one that is not the definition of confidence.

O you who believe! (Let) not ridicule a people [of] (another) people, perhaps that they maybe better than them; and (let) not women [of] (other) women perhaps that they maybe better than them. And (do) not insult yourselves and (do) not call each other by nicknames. Wretched is the name (of) disobedience after the faith. And whoever (does) not repent, then those – they (are) the wrongdoers. (Al-Hujurat 49:11)
