Mother is a strong woman figure, tough and full of struggle. A mother will always love her child with affection. In the Islamic view, the mother is the most respected parent.
Prophet Muhammad SAW also say in some hadith mentioned that respecting a mother is a very good deed and of course will get a great reward. Below is 20 the importance of a mother in Islam that we as Muslims should know.

In the Quran has been written about the placement of women’s position. The placement of a woman’s position, especially she is a mother she is in a very high and noble position. Allah says in the Quran.
“Worship Allah Almighty and associate nothing with Him, and the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those who your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah Almighty does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.” (Verse 4:36)
2. The great struggles of a mother
All mothers must do a great struggle to raise their children. The great sacrifice of a mother to her child is also written in the verses of the Quran.
“And We have enjoined upon man (care) for his parents. His mother carried him, (increasing her) in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the (final) destinations.” (Verse 31: 14)
Mother symbol of sacrifice and love
In one verse of the Quran, it is also mentioned that the mother is a symbol of sacrifice and loves. A mother is a source to make someone a respectable human being.
“And (made me) dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.” (Verse 19:32)
3. The character of a mother is nobly written in Quran
Told in one story on the Quranic verse about Prophet Isa (AS) and his mother Maryam. Here Allah Almighty says about the character and nature of the mother of Prophet Isa AS noble.
“The Messiah son of Mary, was not but a Messenger; (other) messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear them the signs; then look how they are deluded.” (Verse 5:75)
4. Mother’s love
Islam also mentions that the depth of mother’s love for her children and the extent of her affection and tenderness to us is also written in the Quran. Allah Almighty says in the Quran.
“And the heart of Moses’s mother being empty (or all else.) She was about to disclose the matter concerning him.” (Verse 28:10)

5. Dutiful to parents
As a child whom sholeh we are commissioned by Allah Almighty to dutiful to our parents, especially against to mothers. This obligation is written in the Quran as Allah Almighty says in it.
“And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age (while) with you, say not to them (so much as), ‘uff’, and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, ‘My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up (when I was) small’”. (Verse 17:23-24)
6. Mother’s position is more important than father
The position of the mother in Islamic view is more important than the father’s position. In a hadith, Allah Almighty has a will for us all as Muslims to do good to father and mother. Below here is the following hadith.
“Verily Allah will have three times for you to do good to your mother, Allah has a will for you to do good to your father, verily Allah has a will for you to do good to the closest and nearest relatives” (Narrated by Ibn Majah)

7. Heaven on the soles of the mother’s foot
This phrase we often hear to describe a mother. In the view of Islam the sacrifice of a mother is enormous and the phrase “Heaven on the soles of the mother’s foot” is also evidence of the word of the Prophet. This is another hadeeth of the Messenger of Allah that reinforces this expression.
Messenger of Allah. He said, “You must do good to your mother, then your mother, once your mother, then your father, near and nearest” (Bukhari)

8. More respect to the mother than father
A mother must have experienced these three things, first pregnant, second childbirth and last is breastfeeding. That’s why in a hadith the Prophet Muhammad encouraged us as Muslims to be more respectful to mothers than fathers. Here is the following hadith.
Abu Hurairah Radhi Allahu ‘anhu, the young man said, “Someone came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said,’ O Messenger of Allah, to whom should I serve first? ‘The Prophet Sallallahu’ alaihi Wasallam replied, ‘Your mother!’ And the man returned asked ‘Then who else?’ The Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam replied,’ Your mother! ‘The man asked again,’ Then who else? ‘He replied,’ Your mother. ‘The man asked again,’ Then who else, ‘the Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam replied,’ Then your father.'” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

9. Pray for your mother in the Hereafter
Dutiful to parents especially mothers, not only done while alive. If they are dead we must pray for them, and ask Allah to forgive them for all their sins. Here is the hadith.
“One time we were in the side of the Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam. At that time there came a person from the Bani Salimah, he said, “O Messenger of Allah, is there any form of filial piety to my parents when they have died?” Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam replied, “Yes (still there is a dutiful form on both, pen.). (Forms are) Pray for both, asking for forgiveness for both, fulfill their promise after death, establish relationships (kinship) with the families of both parents who never intertwined and glorified their close friends.” (Narrated by Abu Daud and Ibnu Majah)
10. Syuhada’
The mother who died in childbirth means she is a Syuhada’. Syuhada’ means those who die in the way of Allah, the mother is one of them. Below here is the following hadith.
“Syuhada’ who were killed in the path of Allah are seven: The victim of plague tha’un is a martyr, drowned is a martyr, gastric disease (a kind of liver) is a martyr, dying of stomach disease is a martyr, the victim of fire is a martyr, the one who dies of the ruins is a martyr, and a woman (mother) who dies of childbirth is a martyr.” (Narrated by Malik, Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasai, also Ibn Majah).

11. The reward of devotion to the mother is enormous
Told in a hadith, this hadith shows that the reward of devotion to parents, especially mothers are enormous. This reward can be a kafarah sin as killing without rights. Here is the hadith.
“From Ibn ‘Abbas, a man came to him, then said to Ibn Abbas: I once wanted to apply for a woman, but he was reluctant to marry me. Then there was someone else who proposed to her, then the woman wanted to marry him. I was jealous and killed the woman. Can I still repent? Ibn Abbas replied: is your mother still alive? The man replied: No, it’s dead. Then Ibn Abbas said: then repent to Allah and bring Himself close to Him as closely as possible. Then the man left. I (Atha ‘) asked Ibn Abbas: why did you ask him about his mother still alive or not? Ibn Abbas replied: I do not know the practice that can be closer to Allah Almighty than birrul walidain.” (HR Al-Bukhari).
12. Kind treatment of one’s mother
If we want to be closer to Allah Almighty we can give good treatment and respect to mother. No action is nobler than this. Here is the following hadith.
“I know there is no other action that brings people closer to God than good treatment and respect for one’s mother.” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad Bukhari)

13. Fulfill your mother’s call
How to fulfill the mother’s call when we perform praying? There are two ways, we can gesture by hardening the reading of prayer and if the mother still wants our presence we can cancel the prayer and then fulfill the mother’s call. Here below is a piece of hadith that tells about the consequences of a child who does not fulfill his mother’s call.
……………. “(Once) came the mother of Juraij and called her son (Juraij) while he was performing the prayer,” O Juraij. “Juraij then asked in his heart,” Am I have to fulfill my mother’s call or continue my prayer? “Apparently she gave her prayer, her mother then called for the second time, Juraij again asked in her heart,” My mother or my prayer? “Apparently she gave her prayer, her mother called for the third time Juraij asked again his heart, “my mother or my prayer?” Apparently, he still put his prayers in. When he did not answer the call, his mother said, “May God not take your life, Juraij until your face is displayed in front of the prostitutes.” Then his mother went away. …………….” (Bukhari)
14. Mother has more rights
Mother has more rights than father. Islam teaches us to do good to parents especially mothers. Mother has a greater right because the mother’s sacrifice is great for her children. Without mother, there will be no children born in this world. Here is one verse of the Quran that explains this.
“…….. His mother would be her hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning (period) is thirty months ….” (Verse 46:15)
15. Ridha Allah depends on the pleasure of the parents
Have you ever heard if someone is ungodly to his mother and his mother praying the worst thing for his son, surely the prayer of the mother will be granted? Every mother is angry or happy then all her prayers will be granted by Allah Almighty. Here is the following hadith.
“Ridha Allah depends on the wisdom of the parents and the wrath of God depends on the wrath of the parents” (Bukhari)
16. The good deeds that Allah Almighty loves
Devoted to the parents, listening to parents’ advice and fulfilling the mother’s call is the good deed that is loved by Allah Almighty. In the hadith, even the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mention it.
“I asked the Prophet Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam about the most important and Allah-loving deities? The Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam replied, First prayed in due time (in other narrations mentioned prayers at the beginning of time), both devoted to both parents, the three jihads in the way of Allah Almighty.”(Hadith Bukhari and Muslim) [AdSense-C]
17. Repay the kindness of the mother
The pain felt by mother during pregnancy and childbirth cannot be replaced with anything. This pain is one of our debt to our mother who gave birth to us. If we want to repay this, we must do good deeds over as long as our mother lives. Below is one of the stories about the Yemeni man holding his mother while doing Tawaf.
Abdullah bin ‘Umar, he saw a Yemeni man doing Tawaf (around the Ka’ba) carrying his mother on his back. This man said to Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar, “I am like a tame camel for him! I have brought him more than he took me. Do you think I have paid him back, O Ibn’ Umar?” Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar replied, “No, not even a contraction!” (Bukhari)
18. Disobedience to mother is in the major sins
Islam always teaches us Muslims to always treat mothers well. However, if we do otherwise we will be disobedient and that is haram. This is related to major sins. Here is a hadith that states this.
“Surely Allah Almighty forbids you to commit lawlessness to your mothers, burying daughters alive, refusing duty and demanding something that is not his right. Allah also hates if you spread rumors (rumors), ask many questions, and waste treasure “ (Bukhari).
19. The rewards for the human to their mothers
The reward for the devoted Muslim to his parents especially to the mother, Allah Almighty will extend sustenance and prolong his life. Allah Almighty will also give His Paradise to every devoted Muslim to her parents.
“Whoever likes to be diluted for his sustenance and prolonged his life then let him connect with the bonds” (Hadiths of Bukhari, Muslim, and Abu Dawud)
