Battle of Badr is one of the most epic moment in Islam history. It marks the greatest victory for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers. The battle strengthen Muslims’ position in Medina while destroying the Quraisy prestige. The importance of Battle of Badr in Islam is very big, as it changed the whole perception about Muslim.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) status was also raised, as a skillful leader in the military war. After being evicted from Mecca, the Prophet (peace be upon him) began to raid Mecca caravan that passed through Badr. This later provoked Meccan to confront Muhammad’s army. Battle of Badr happened when a caravan that escorted Abu Sufyan, one of the wealthiest Meccan, was being raided by around 300 Muslims.

1. Showing That Allah’s Help is Everything
In the Battle of Badr, Muslims army was consisted of no more than 300 man. With moderate weapon, 2 horses, and 70 camels they fought agains 1000 men of Meccan with well equipped weapon. However, the fact that Muslims won the war instead of Meccan shows that Allah has given His helping hand on that day.
Allah helped you at Badr when you were very weak. Be mindful of Allah, so that you may be grateful. (3:123)
2. Marking the Greatest Victory of Islam
Islam status raised after the battle ended and they won it. The da’wah in Mecca had always been difficult for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his followers. Now that they had beaten the people of Mecca with small number of army, the spreading of Islam become much easier afterward.
Well, if you are steadfast and mindful of Allah, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand swooping angels if the enemy should suddenly attack you!’ (3:125)

3. Patience Always Turns Out to be Something Good
Victory on the Battle of Badr means a lot to Muslims at the time. For 10 long years they had suffered and living under hardship for the sake of Allah and Islam. They never welcomed in Mecca, which make their da’wah harder than it should be. In the end Muslims even had to leave Meccabehind.
4. It Happened in Ramadhan
The Battle of Badr took place on 17 March 624. Little did we know that it was alo the 17th day of Ramadhan, two years after the Prophet (peace be upon him) migrated from Mecca to Medina.
“… and Allah arranged it so, as a message of hope for you [believers] to put your hearts at rest- help comes only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.” (3:126)

5. Battle That Show Good and Evil
The Battle of Badr has another name: battle of separation. Through the war Allah distinct the good and the evil. We can see that now matter how powerful it is, no matter how they likely would win, the good will never lose to evil. Allah’s helping hand is everything, since he is the Almighty and the powerful.
6. A Milestone for the Islamic Spread in Arab
Being abused in Mecca, facing endless hardships day by day, the Muslim sufferings seemed never end. The victory at the Battle of Badr was a big milestone for Islam establishment and the spread around the world.
“It was not you who slew them, it was God…in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself” (8:17).

Lesson from the Battle of Badr
As one of the major event in Islam, there are many lesson from the Battle of Badr we should learn:
1. Believe Only in Allah SWT
As a Muslim, we have to believe and convict (yakin) that Allah SWT always helps us in any situations. The Battle of Badr showed it all, where Allah sent down the rain before the battle so that the ground become soft for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his army to travel. Whereas the way the Meccans went through was muddy and difficult.

2. Have Faith in Allah with No Excuse
The victory at the Battle of Badr shows the unconditional reliance of Muslims to their Lord. Allah SWT then sent down Angels to help them win the battle.
“When He caused calm to fall on you as a security from Him.” (8:11)
3. Success in Only from Allah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) and his army wins the battle because of Allah’s help.
“And you did not kill them, but it was Allah who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (8:17)

4. Allah SWT is Always with Us
Never feel like you’re alone in this world, especially when you feel down. When things seem helpless and unbearable, at those time Allah’s help come. Just have faith and rely on Him.
5. Muslims Should Stay United
The power of Muslims’ unity can even scare the Shaytan away.
“And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, “No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector.” But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, “Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in penalty.” (8:48)
6. Be Optimist
Fight until the last drop of your blood. Don’t feel defeated by anything because you always have Allah by your side.
