12 Importance of Good Relations in Islam

Human are social being who will never be able to live alone. Ever since they were born, they live within the society, starting from the smallest form: family. As they grow older their circle also getting bigger. It is the reason why the importance of relation in Islam.

“From Abu Hurairah Radhiyallaahu ‘anhu that Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam said : “Allah said : I becomes the third person from two people who associate during one of them does not betray to his friend. If anyone betrays, I get out from (association) them.” (Abu Dawood)

Building relation is important, not only between human but also human to Allah SWT. It is so important that the relations between human is mentioned in the Holy Quran.

“They have been put under humiliation [by Allah] wherever they are overtaken, except for a covenant from Allah and a rope from the Muslims.” – Ali Imran (3:112)

Here are some of the importance of relation in Islam:

1. Help Us to Pursue Our Goals

In life, we all have goals and dreams to be pursued. It is impossible for us to reach it alone as we need help from others. The ways to our goals could be so much easier if we have a good relation with others. The more we know other people, the more help we can receive.

2. As the Key to Success

Relation is the key to success, not only for businessmen but also for life in general. We need others to support our lives. Just like how a business won’t be progressing well if the owner doesn’t have a wide range of relation, our lives will also stuck without others.

3. To Gain a Sufficient Living

Life is like a rotating wheel. Sometime we are on the upside and other times we are going down. We need others to make living when we’re not in top. It’s our relatives who will help us, giving us food, clothing, and shelter, as well as other things we need.

4. To Have Tolerance to Many People

If our relation is larger, we tend to interact with various kind of person. It makes us easier to understand others and having a high tolerance towards difference. We come to realize how people are not perfect and all of them, including us, have our own shortcomings.

When our lives is troubled, we often need help for others to solve it. Especially to people who have been through the similar problem as we are. You will be lucky if one in your relation could share the experience so that you know the best thing to do.

People need connection to gain a successful life, especially when we run a business. Connection is all we need so that our business will grow fast. You can receive advice from others and in turn you can also give advice to others as well.

It’s always nice to exchange experience with others, and that’s the importance of relation in Islam. Through other people we can increase our knowledge, learn about something we never know before and it’s highly beneficial.

We never know what kind of help we are going to need later in life. So we have to be kind and creating a relations here and there with various kind of people. Later those people will be useful for us since we never know what the future will bring. Don’t underestimate a person just because he is poor at the moment. When he become successful someday, he will surely help us.

9. To Gain a Peaceful Life

A problem free life is a life everyone wished for. It is called a peaceful life. To gain it we will need help from other people. For example, when we have some financial difficulties, our wealthy relatives come to help. Life problems are not limited only to financial problem so that every kind of people will be very useful in the future.

Meeting with many people, creating a special connection and relation with them makes us grow fond to each other. From that we learn how to love and cherish others. Surely it will makes us happier and our lives will be more peaceful and free of problems.

Surely, having a good relation is highly beneficial. It will affect our success in our career too. If we treat others with kindness, they will return our kindness as well. Especially when we are kind to our partner in work, our career will indeed be more successful.

Why relation is important in Islam? Because it has many benefits that are too good to be missed. Even the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself had confirmed this in a Hadith:

“From Jabir bin Abdillah RA, that Rasulullah (peace be upon him) said, “Allah SWT will give His blessings to someone who ease selling, ease buying and ease when collect debts.” (Bukhari)

Those are all the importance of relation in Islam. As building relation and keep it in a good terms is very important, may all of us could have the best relation between human as well as with Allah SWT.
