20 Importance of Zuhr Prayer For Muslims to Obey

Zuhr prayer has 4 rak’ahs. Zuhr prayer time is held when the sun is above the head, starting at 11-13: 00 local time. The first person to perform Zuhr prayers is the prophet Abraham (AS). Prophet Ibrahim did the four rak’ah prayers during the day (the sun is in the midpoint) as a sign of the prophet Abraham’s feeling. The first rak’ah is a sign of gratitude for Ismail’s succession.


The second rak’ah is a sign of the Prophet Ibrahim’s happiness. While the third rak’ah is to seek the pleasure of Allah and the last rak’ah is a sign of gratitude for the sheep given by Allah SWT. Every prayer has virtues and benefits that are very much for our health as Muslims. In this discussion, we will explore what is the importance of Zuhr prayer? Here are 20 Importance of Zuhr prayer along with the explanation.

1. The gates of heaven are opened

When the time of Zuhur arrives, Allah ta’ala opens the gates of heaven. Whoever does good deeds and prays Zuhr, then the gates of heaven will be wide open for us Muslims. Take advantage of this opportunity to do good deeds while the gates of heaven are open for us, Muslims. Below here is one hadith that describes this.

“This is an hour at which the gates of heaven are opened, and I like that my good deeds should rise to heaven at that time.” (Tirmidhi)

2. Forbidden from the fire of hell

Whosoever that Muslim people that always protect the Sunna before and after performing Zuhr Prayer, so they are forbidden from the fire of hell. Below here is the following hadith narrated by HR. Ash Daud.

“Whoever protects 4 rakahs before Zuhr and also 4 rakahs thereafter, until it is forbidden to hell upon it. “

3. Performing Zuhr Prayer when it cooler

If the weather is summer and very hot, we may perform Zuhr prayers when the weather is the little bit colder. This suggestion is written in the following hadith below.

“Allah’s Apostle said, “If it is very hot, then pray the Dhuhr (Zuhr) prayer when it becomes (a bit) cooler, as the severity of the heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire.”(Narrated by Abu Huraira and ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar)

4. Rewards of rak’ah Sunnah

Prophet Mohammad SAW advised us to perform pray four rakahs before the Zuhr prayer and after performing Zuhr prayers. This is done by Prophet Muhammad SAW to get many rewards. The following is described in one hadith.

“Whoever observes the practice of performing four rak’ah before Dhuhr prayer and four (2 sunnah, 2 Nafl) after the Dhuhr prayer, Allah will send him against the Fire (of Hell).” (Tirmidhi)

5. The recitation of the Zuhr prayer must be done silently

It was recommended by Allah ta’ala and our Prophet Muhammad SAW to read Zuhr’s prayer letter to be done silently. Remembering Zuhr’s prayer is a prayer done in the daytime. During the day many people are busy with thoughts caused by work. If the reciting is done aloud, the mind will be disturbed. Therefore in the reciting of Zuhr prayer by priests or congregations better read it silently. This is the word of Allah ta’ala explaining the reason why the recitation of Zuhr prayer must be done silently.

“Say (to mankind): Cry to God, or weep to the Beneficent, whom ye cry also (it is the same). His most beautiful name. And you (Muhammad) do not sound aloud in your worship and do not stay in it, but follow the path in between.” (Verse 17: 110)

6. The reward when stepping foot to the mosque

Step on your feet to perform Zuhr prayers in the mosque, surely every step you will get a reward from Allah ta’ala. Here is the word of Allah ta’ala about the reward where you set the foot to a mosque to perform the Zuhr prayer. This reward also applies to every Muslim who performs other prayers such as Fajr, Ashar, and Maghrib. Here is the following hadith by Ibn Majah & Muslim.

“A man who walks to the mosque, then every step of his foot will be given one reward, blotted out one sin, and raised one degree by Allah SWT.”

7. The Importance of prayer Sunna in Zuhr Prayer

Prophet Muhammad never left the Sunnah prayer where this prayer is always done by our prophet after performing Zuhr prayer. Here is a hadith narrated by Aisha about the habit of the prophet Muhammad SAW to keep performing on this sunnah prayer.

‘Aishah (Radi Allahu Anha) reported: If the Prophet (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Salaam) could not perform four Rak’ah before Dhuhr prayer, he would perform them after it (i.e., after the obligatory prayer).

8. Waiting at the time of prayer in mosque

Whosoever that Muslim people that waiting for prayer time in the mosque and they do zikir, it is one of the good deeds. Many people who prefer to rush or come last when the call to prayer is over.  Here is the answer that we must be waiting at the time of prayer in the mosque. This hadith was narrated by Bukhari.

“People who wait for prayers in the mosque are rewarded as if they were praying.”


9. Prayed by angels

Whoever the Muslims who enter the mosque to perform Zuhr prayers in congregation, then whoever he will be prayed by angels. Here is an angel’s dua for anyone who enters into the mosque with the intention of praying Zuhur congregation.

“O Allah forgive him, O Allah forgive him”, without stopping until the time of prayer. Subhan Allah!”

10. An angel’s prayer for those of you who are at the front’s shaf

For anyone who performs the Zuhr prayer at the mosque together and he is at the front of the shaf, the angels will pray for him. The angel’s prayer to the person performing the prayer in the front shaf is described in the following two hadiths below.

“Truly the Angels give sholawat to those who are in the first shaf.” (Narrated by Ibn Hibban)Responding to his words, the Companions asked, “Is it also to those who are in the second shaf of the Messenger of God? “Then the Messenger of Allah said, “Also to those who are in the second shaf.”

10. The reward will be duplicated

Performs prayer in congregation is better than praying alone. In this case, Allah ta’ala also duplicated the reward by 27 times to the Muslims who perform the congregational prayers in the mosque during the days of Zuhur, Ashar, and  Maghrib. Here is the hadith narrated by Muslim.

“If the prayers Zuhr  jamaah, Ashar jamaah, and Maghrib jamaah, each multiplied 27 times if we perform in congregation”

11. As a light in world and hereafter

As Muslims remain to keep the five daily prayers, including the Zuhr prayers. Because by keeping the prayer, it means we will get chaya and salvation on the Day of Judgment someday.Below here is the hadith narrated by Ahmad.

“Who keeps the five daily prayers, for his light, proof, and salvation on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever does not guard it, then he gets no light, no proof, nor gets salvation. On the Day of Judgment, he will be with Qorun, Fir’aun, Haman, and Ubay bin Khalaf. “
(Narrated Ahmad 2: 169. Shaykh Shuaib Al-Arnauth says that this hadith is Hasan).

12. Foster the spirit

Daytime is a very heavy time because during the day humans are busy with a variety of activities that are solid. Performing Zuhur Prayer is believed to help the Muslims to refresh their faith and foster the spirit. Not only that, perform Zuhur’s righteous deeds and khusyu can reflect us. Below are the words of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to Bilal.

“O Bilal, rest us with prayer …” (HR Ahmad)

13. Benefit for our health

Perform a prayer is actually a cure for our health, how can it be? Some researchers do research on Zuhr prayer
When nature changes color to yellow, it affects the stomach and the digestive system of humans. So if you miss or leave Zuhur prayer will face problems in the digestive system. Here is a hadith that explains this.

“From Abu Hurairah ra., He said: ‘The Prophet. walk around, then I accompany (him). Then I prayed. Then I sat down. Then the Prophet turned to me. The Prophet asked: ‘Are you got a stomachache?’. I replied: ‘O Messenger of Allah’. The Prophet said: ‘Wake up and pray because actually there is a medicine in the prayer’ “(H.R. Ibn Majah).

14. Removed from any sins and all wrong

Performing five obligation prayer is done with the intention to wipe away all our sins and our guilt while we live in the world. Zuhr prayer is one of them, the prayer that is done during this daytime can wipe away all the sins that we have done during our activity in the morning. Below is a hadith narrated  Muslim about prayer as a penance.

“There is no Muslim to be prayed fardhu, then he consecrates his wudhu and solemnity and prayer, but it becomes the penitent of previous sins, as long as he did not commit a great sin, and that applies throughout the ages.”

16. Cleansed our sin

Exactly on the previous point that doing the prayer is to cleanse us from sin. The little sins we do every day can be cleansed by prayer. Below is another hadith that explains the same thing as in the previous point, which is prayer as the cleanser of our sins.

“Do you know that if there is a river near the door of one of you, then he bathed in the river five times a day, will there be a little bit of dirt?” The Companions replied, “There will be no trace of it.” He said, “Then that is the parable of the five daily prayers, with which God will take away sins.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

17. For you who people delaying a prayer time

It is not recommended for us Muslims delay the prayer time. Leaving one of prayer,  like Zuhr prayer by deliberate means we are among the disbelievers. As the word of God is mentioned in the Quran.

“Now there hath succeeded them a later generation whom have ruined worship and have followed lusts. But they will meet deception. Save him who shall repent and believe and do right. Such will enter the Garden, and they will not be wronged in aught.” (Verse 19: 59-60)

18. Reducing the burden of the digestive organs

Perform Zuhr prayer is better done after lunch. It is intended to assisting the burden of the digestive organs in performing their duties. It would be better if we also do fasting every Monday and Thursday. Here is one of the hadiths about fasting. It is from Abu Hurairah Radhi Allahu ‘anhu, the Messenger of Allaah Sallallahu’ alaihi wa Sallam said:

“Various deeds are confronted (on God) on Mondays and Thursdays, so I like if my deeds are confronted while I’m fasting.” (HR. Muslim)

19. Our level will be elevated by  Allah ta’ala

By performing the prayers, be it Fajr prayer, Zuhr, Ashar, Maghrib and Isha Allah ta’ala will exalt us and remove any mistakes we make. Our Prophet Muhammad SAW said to Tsauban Radhiyallahu anhu:

“Thou must raise the prostrate (Prayers). Surely thou dost not prostrate once to Allah, except with that prostration Allâh will lift you one degree and wipe out one’s iniquity.” (HR. Muslim)

20. The cause of entering heaven

Prayer is the first thing to ask on the Day of Judgment. It is said that whoever does not perform the prayer, then he is the one who loses. Prayer is our weapon to wipe away sin and to pray is our provision to go to heaven. This is the reason why we should keep the five daily prayers, including the Zuhr prayer. Below is a hadith that explains that prayer is a cause of entering the heaven. From Rabi’a ibn Ka’ab al-Aslami Radhiyallahu anhu, he recalled.

“I have spent the night with Rasûlullâh Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam, then I bring ablution water’ and his necessities. He said to me, ‘Ask!’ So I said, ‘I ask that I may accompany you in heaven.’ He replied, ‘Is there anything else besides?’ I replied, ‘That’s all.’ Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam said: ‘Help me to grant your request by prostration’.” (HR. Muslim)

Hopefully, with the exploration of The  20  importance of Zuhr Prayers can be knowledge and warning to us, the Muslims to do Zuhr prayers in a timely manner. The importance of keeping the prayers and practicing them every day is an obligation for us Muslims. By doing the prayer Zuhr just in time (not delay) is not just what we can.
