10 Blessing Sunnah in Rajab Month

The month of Rajab is one of haram months in Islam. It is mentioned in Al-Qur’an.

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا۟ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ وَقَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

“Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them.

And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].” (Q.S. At-Tawbah : 36)

It is called a haram month because in that month, Muslim are forbidden to do sins and wars except the enemy attack us first.

Muslim is sunnah to do many good deeds in Rajab. Here are some sunnah good deeds that should be done in the month of Rajab :

1. Sunnah Fasting

The narration of At-Tabrani from Sya’id bin Rasyid is explained that : “whoever fast one day in Rajab, he likes to do fast in one year.

If he fasts seven days, then he will be closed from the door of Jahannam hell, and whoever fast eigth day then for him the eight of Heaven’s door, and if he fasts eight days, then Allah swt will grants all of his wishes.” (Narrated by At-Tabrani)

Multiply to do sunnah fasting in Rajab, but do not do fast for the whole month because it s law will become makruh.

2. Sunnah Prayer

Rasulullah said : “Indeed the first good deed of human that will be counted in the Hereafter is Prayer.” Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said again,

“Allah said to His angels, while He is more know,  ‘Look the prayer of My servants, have they done well or is there a lack?’

If they worship have been perfect, then be written perfect rewards, too. But, if there is a lack, then Allah said, “See what do My servants have sunnah prayers?’ If they have sunnah prayers, then Allah said, ‘be perfect for My servants from their lacks with their sunnah prayers.’ Thus all of worships will work in similar process.” (Narrated by Abu Daud)

3. Shalawat

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا

“Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace. (Q.S. Al-Ahzab : 56)

Rasulullah said, “Multiply shalawat to me in Friday or Friday’s night, whoever shalawat to me, Allah will shalawat to you ten times.” (Narrated by Al Baihaqi) [AdSense-A]

4. Sadaqah

There are many virtues of sadaqah in Islam, moreover if it is done in the good month like Rajab. Then multiply sadaqah.

مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنۢبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِى كُلِّ سُنۢبُلَةٍ مِّا۟ئَةُ حَبَّةٍ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُضَٰعِفُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (Q.S. Al-Baqarah : 261)

5. Dhikr

Someone who often do dhikr in haram month will get a lot of virtues of dhikr. Multiply daily dhikr to the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, too.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَٱلْمُسْلِمَٰتِ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْقَٰنِتَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلصَّٰدِقَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّٰبِرَٰتِ وَٱلْخَٰشِعِينَ وَٱلْخَٰشِعَٰتِ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمِينَ وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمَٰتِ وَٱلْحَٰفِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَٱلْحَٰفِظَٰتِ وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِ أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great award.” (Q.S. Al-Ahzab : 35)

6. Connect Silaturahmi

Should not only do sunnah worships that connect yourself with Allah, but it should relate with fellow humans. There are many virtues of connecting silaturahmi in Islam, the law of connecting silaturrahmi is very recommended.

7. Read Al-Qur’an

There are many benefits of reciting Al-Qur’an every day, as it is mentioned in the narration of Abdullah bin Mas’ud radhiyallahu ‘anhu said :

“Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said : “Who is reciting one letter from Al-Qur’an, then one good deed for him with that reading, for example one good deed is multiplied to ten good deeds and I did not said that الم one letter, but Alif one letter, Laam one letter and Miim one letter.” (Narrated by Tirmidzi and it has validated in the book of Al Jami page 6469)

8. Pray

A haram month is a month where Allah will grant your wishes.

As the word of Allah swt :

“Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors. And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation.

And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.” (Q.S. Al-‘Araf : 55 – 56)

9. Tahajjud Prayer

Rasulullah saw said : “Do not leave night prayers, because indeed Rasulullah saw never leave it. If he was sick or weak, then he did prayer by sitting.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud and Ahmad]

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا

“And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.” (Q.S. Al-Isra : 79)

10. Multiply Istighfar

We should multiply istighfar in the month of Rajab, as the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala :

ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا۟ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

“Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart and ask forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Q.S. Al-Baqarah : 199)

Rasulullah saw said : “Whoever multiply istighfar, Allah will give exit for his every sadness, enlarge for his every narrowness and rizq from unexpected ways.” (Narrated by Ibn Abbas and its sand is validated by al-Hakim and Ahmad Syakir)
