Adam people or men have the obligation to do Friday prayer in congregation on Friday. On that special day, it is highly suggested to increase good deeds. Besides trying to achieve the virtue of alms on Friday in Islam, there are the things that are sunnah in Friday prayer that are suggested to be practiced. Especially for men.
The order to do this Friday prayer is stated in the following words of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
“O believers, if you are called to pray on Friday, then hasten to remember Allah and leave the buying and selling. That is better for you if you know.” (QS Al Jum’ah: 9)
There are also the things that are sunnah that have been summarized
Before going to mosque to do Friday prayer, prepare yourself as well as possible. Because we will not only meet many people, but more than that, we will worship to Allah.
Then, bathe until clean from all kinds of dirt. Know that bathe before Friday prayer belongs to the kinds of baths that are sunnah.
The Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam siad:
“Whoever does wudu’ on Friday, then with it, it is (enough) and the best. Whoever bathes, then that bath is more preferred.” (Hadith At-Tirmidzi)
The hadith above explains that even only doing wudu’ when you want to do Friday prayer is considered to be sufficient. However, a thing that is more preferred and highly suggested is bath.
Besides bathe, a man is also suggested to wear fragrance or perfume before going to Friday prayer. This thing aims to get rid of body odor and prevent yourself from disturbing the others.
From Salman Al-Farisi r.a., the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:
“Someone who bathes on Friday, cleans himself as best as he can, wears hair oil, or wears fragrance then goes out to do Friday prayer by not separating between two people (in their seats in the mosque), then prays as best as he can and be quiet when imam (khatib) is talking/khutba except it is forgiven for him the sin between that Friday with other Fridays.” (Hadith Al-Bukhari)
It will be better if men understand the law of wearing perfume for men in Islam.
What is meant by the best clothes is not the clothes that are just bought. However, the best clothes in the point of view of Islam, which are clean clothes, able to cover aurat, not transparent, not tight and are obtained by a halal and good way. Know about how to dress up for men according to Islam.
The Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:
“Whoever bathes on Friday, then wears his best clothes, wears his perfume, then walks to do Friday prayer calmly, not step over someone’s shoulder and not hurt him. Then he bows until he finishes it, waits until the imam finishes, then it is forgiven for him (sin) between two Fridays.” (Hadith Ahmad)
It will be better if he wears white clothes. This thing is as the narration of Ibn Abbas r.a., the Prophet saw. said:
“Wear your white (colored) clothes, because indeed, white clothes are the best of your clothes and shroud the dead people (among) you with it (white cloth).” (Hadith At-Tirmidzi)
Those are some things that are sunnah in Friday prayer and its verses. They are very important to know by men so that they can practice those sunnah deeds that belong to the kinds of good deeds to seek the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
