12 Effective Tips to Make Decision Earlier in Islam

In life, we have to make decision, from small things to the big one with much consideration. But often we can’t stretch the time to think longer and decision should be made quickly. Upon making a quick or early decision, is it possible not to it in a rush? Surely, it is.

Here are some effective tips to make decision earlier in Islam.

  1. Think Before You Decide

Why many people often regret the decision they have made? It’s because they don’t really think before decide on something. Making decision as early as possible is important, but to think about it carefully is more important. By thinking, you have done a thorough analysis, drawing possibilities, and brainstorm yourself.   1. Do Research and Ask Around

As if thinking is not enough, you will be doubting whether your decision is right. It’s alright to have many questions arise after that. If you’re not convinced enough you can always do your research or ask around to more experienced people.

Upon listening to others’ opinion, you’ll be either more convinced or find a better solution.

  1. Pray to Allah SWT

Upon making an early decision, one may do it in a rush and extreme feeling. Both condition won’t make a good decision. Decision making is a stressful process which can be more difficult with the fog of emotion to blur it. Before coming down into one final decision, there must be several options. Instead of considering others to be not right, weigh all the possibility. Narrow the choices into top three that you think make sense the most. After that, it will be easier for you to pick one as the best.

Follow your intuition is best rather than letting your heart takes the lead. You can’t trust your heart which easily blinded by emotion. Depending on your heart while making crucial decision is like driving with your eyes blindfolded.

  1. Look at the Bigger Picture

Even if you have tried your best so that your decision is not rushed, you always have the tendencies when you make an early decision. However, you have to be visionary upon deciding something. It must have a positive purpose in the future. Avoid making decision which clashed with your belief, serving unjust to the society, or lack of meaning.

  1. Ask for Allah’s Guidance

“O Allah! I ask guidance from Your knowledge, And Power from Your Might and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not and You know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter, then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, And then bless me in it, and if You know that this is harmful to me in my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter, then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, and make me satisfied with it”. The Prophet added that then the person should name his need”. (Bukhari)

  1. Keep Remembrance of Allah SWT

Always keep your mind occupied by Allah SWT. Remember Him through dhikr, every morning and evening. Ibn al Qayyim has said that dhikr holds numerous benefit such as erasing hardships, sadness, anxiety.

“Believers, remember Allah much. And glorify Him morning and evening.” (33: 41)

  1. Avoid Negative Thoughts

  1. Start It with Bismillah

Here is the last but not least. Don’t forget to say bismillah before you act. Bisnillah has its own miracle, in which Allah SWT will provide you with shelter, and protection from danger. You should make this one a habit

“Then I will come upon them from the front and from the rear, and from their right and from their left. And You will not find most of them thankful.” (7:17)

So those are the effective tips to make decision earlier in Islam. The most important thing you should remember is that making decision early doesn’t mean it has to be rushed. Considering everything carefully help you to make a good decision which you won’t regret later.
