12 Tips to Pray Fajr On Time in Islam

“During your sleep, Satan knots three knots at the back of the head of each of you, and he breathes the following words at each knot, ‘The night is, long, so keep on sleeping,’ If that person wakes up and celebrates the praises of Allah, then one knot is undone, and when he performs ablution the second knot is undone, and when he prays, all the knots are undone, and he gets up in the morning lively and in good spirits, otherwise he gets up in low spirits and lethargic.” (Bukhari 4:491)

Among five obligatory prayers, there are two particular prayers which can make a Muslim kufr if they skip them. Those are Fajr and Isha’ prayer. Especially for Fajr prayers, many of us often skip on it and wake up late. While it seems hard, you can follow some useful tips to pray Fajr on time in Islam.

  1. Remember Allah SWT Before Sleep

Prayers is the main form of worship. There is no tolerance for Muslims who skip the prayer. To wake up on time in the morning, remember Allah in your mind before going to sleep.   1. Say It in Your Heart

Show no hesitation in your heart about waking up for Fajr. Don’t say, “It ‘ll be nice for me to wake up for Fajr,” but say, “I will wake up on time on Fajr” instead. By repeating this every time before sleep, you have plant it in your brain so it will work by the time Fajr arrives to wake you up.

  1. Take Wudu Before Sleep

Purify yourself from Shaytan and all evil deeds during the sleep by taking wudu’. It will be easier for you to free yourself from the knots that Shaytan puts when you sleep. If you find it hard to wake up for Fajr, it’s all the doing of Shaytan. Also read Ways To Purify Yourself In Islam

As reported by Ibn Abbas, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Purify these bodies and Allah will purify you, for there is no slave who goes to sleep in a state of purity but an Angel spends the night with him, and every time he turns over, [the Angel] says, ‘O Allah! Forgive Your slave, for he went to bed in a state of purity.”

  1. Recite Quran Before Sleep

If you want to start your day remembering Allah SWT, end it with remembrance of Him as well. Don’t forget to recite Quran before sleep so that your mind is set for Fajr prayer.   1. Remember the Rewards You’ll Get

Indeed, Allah SWT had promised tremendous rewards for everyone who wake up for Fajr prayer and He never break His own promises. Be a Muslim that never miss the blessing of Allah SWT early in the morning and obtain Allah’s protection from laziness for the rest of the day by doing the Fajr prayer.

  1. Sleep Earlier at Night

Here are another tips to pray Fajr on time in Islam: sleep early at night. Human’s body has been programmed to sleep for at least 6-7 hours a day, so you’re going to wake up after the sleeping cycle ended. If you aim to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning, sleep 7 hours before. There’s no need to stay up late unless you’re doing something good. Also read Rules of Sleeping in Islam

  1. Take Nap in the Afternoon

This may unrelated but actually this is. Spare 20 minutes a day to take a nap since it rejuvenate your body and make you fresh. It’s also a sunnah that recommended by the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself.

  1. Have a Good Intention

  1. Set Alarm Every Morning

When it’s almost impossible for you to wake up in the morning without the power of alarm, set it to the Fajr time to ring every morning. Put the alarm out of your reach but you can hear the sound clearly so you have to wake up and walk to turn it off, whether you like it or not.

  1. Avoid Hitting the Snooze Button

This is why you need to put your alarm a little far away from you. When you have fully wake up by the time you reach your alarm, you won’t hit the snooze button and go back to sleep again.   1. Do This Only for Allah SWT

Every good deed and worship should be done only for Allah SWT and nothing else. Remember that you do the Fajr prayer in the early morning where everyone else might still fast asleep because you want to please Allah SWT. You won’t waste your time anymore.

  1. Ask Others to Wake You Up

If you live together with somebody else, say your parents, roommate, or spouse, you can ask them to wake you up for Fajr every morning and do the prayer in congregation. Doing the prayer together is not only multiplying the rewards but also make it easier for you to wake up.

There are many other tips to pray Fajr on time in Islam. As waking up Fajr seems the hardest, the rewards given to Muslims who is capable of doing it will be equally tremendous as well.
