Benefits of Honey in Islam Prespective

The benefits of this honey have been summarized clearly in Surah An-Nahl verse 69 which reads :

ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ فَاسۡلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلاً يَخۡرُجُ مِن بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَانُهُ فِيهِ شِفَاء لِلنَّاسِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَةً لِّقَوۡمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ (69

“Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]. There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.”

Indeed, there is a Sign (the glory of God) for those who think. This explains that honey is one of halal drink in Islam. And here are the fourteen benefits of honey in the islamic view.

  1. Prevention of dangerous diseases

It has been explained in Islam, that there is no disease that no medicine, right? So is honey. This honey can be a medicine of various diseases. Even it has a nicknamed “the king of medicine” because there are many benefits of honey that we never guess. It is looked very perfect.

One of hadith also explains about honey,

“Recovery from that disease with doing three thing : do hijama, drink honey and burned with a hot iron. But I forbid my people to burn with that hot iron.” (Al-Bukhari)

Some things can be prevented from consuming honey regularly are cancers and heart diseases. What a wonderful thing, is not it?

As we know that cancer and heart diseases are a collection of dangerous diseases that can be the cause of death today.   1. Coping with the Digestive Disorders

The recent research has shown that the treatment of honey can help disorders such as ulcers and gastroenteritis bacteria. This may be related with the many benefits of honey. Because of these various benefits, it is very recommended to learn about rules for eating in Islam, he advises us to prefer and familiarize to consume honey everyday in the right amount.

  1. Anti-Bacterial, anti-irritant and anti-fungal

All of honey are anti bacterial because bees add enzymes to make hydrogen peroxide. This useful and efficacy beverage is believed as anti-irritant and anti-fungal, too. This is a reason why honey is very recommended to treat many problems in the body. [AdSense-B]

Do you know that the ancient Olympic athletes will eat honey and dried figs to improve their performs. Today, it has been verified with modern studies, it showed that this is superior to maintain glycogen levels and improve recovery times than another sweeteners. Honey helps cough problems, especially buckwheat honey. Based on the research of 105 children, a dose of buckwheat honey is as effective as a doze of dextromethorphan to reduce cough at night and let a deep sleep.

Honey is called “Yogavahi” because it has a quality as penetration in the deepest of body’s tissues. When honey is used with another herbal preparations, this honey increase the quality of that preparations and it also helps them to reach the deeper tissues.  Even in Islam, the honey treatment  has been known and recommended by the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

Although honey contains simple sugars, but the content of honey is not same with white sugar or artificial sweeteners. The exact combination of fructose and glucose really help body to arrange blood sugar levels. Some types of honey have a low hypoglycemic index, so it does not influence your blood sugar levels. Even, honey is an alternative for diabetes sufferers to provide their sugar needs.

  1. Wound Healing

Applying honey externally is proven to be as effective as the conventional treatment with silver sulfadiazine. It foreseen that the effect of simple sugar drying and anti-bacteria of honey combine to create this effect. Studies have shown that it is very successful in the wound healing. Even, honey is also effective to heal burns.

  1. Fight Insomnia

The content of glucose, fructose, maltose and sucrose in honey are useful to give energy for pregnant women who tend to require extra energy then normal condition before pregnancy.

  1. For Fertility

According to some nutritionists, benefits of honey for human health can increase sexual ability and fertility. Honey will stimulate ovaries to ovulate (release eggs) and  prepare uterus to get pregnant soon.

  1. Brighten Hair

Another benefits of honey for human health is brightening hair. By taking a teaspoon of honey and mix it into one liter warm water. Flush it on hair that has been washed with shampoo. No need to be rinsed to get bright and shiny hair.

  1. Reduce Leucorrhoea

Anti-bacteria that is produced by honey can help you to reduce and prevent leucorrhoea which is caused by bacteria and fungi. The anti-bacterial in honey will be good for you to prevent some diseases which are caused by bacteria.

  1. Honey for Skin

Honey can be use as a good skin moisturizer and it can rejuvenate the skin. Loaded with natural antioxidants, which help to protect skin from ultraviolet. By penetrating the top layer of skin, so it can peel dirt. It also help you to attack infection and prevent acne problems.

Some varieties of honey have a large number of friendly bacteria. It includes up to 6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria. This can explain the therapeutic of honey that is very useful for body health. Although honey is one of halal food, but we should not be given it to infants less than 6 months.

Because the content of Clostridium botulinum spores has been found in a small percentage of honey. This is not dangerous for adults and older children, but babies can have serious diseases in their first year. Do not add honey to baby food or use it as an alternative to quite a fussy baby or colic.
