35 Best Way to Seek Forgiveness from Allah

Human being is the source of mistake and sin. Even the first human Allah created, Prophet Adam A.S., committed a sin by disobeying Allah and resulted in him and his beloved, Eve, being evicted from Jannah (Heaven). The reason why Adam and Eve did something that Allah clearly forbid was because they were tempted by the whisper of the Jin. Ever since the creation of Adam, Jin has swore that he will tempting all of the descendant of Adam and Eve to disobey Allah.

People committed sin because of their lack of faith in Allah, so they were easily driven by the Jin. However, constantly committing sin will do no good for human in the afterlife. Allah indeed promise his servant eternal life in Jannah for those who worship Him, as written in At Tawba verse 72:

Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment.”

But how’s with the sinners and those who disbelief in Allah? Repent the sins and seek for forgiveness from Allah. As He said, he will forgive all of his servant who repents. Here are the best way to seek forgiveness from Allah:

1. Acknowledge your Sins

People doing sins because they have diverged too far from Allah’s guidance. Reflect deeply on your sins and think again why you did the sin and how the sins affected your life and everyone around you. Every people committing sins, you don’t have to think low about yourself. Allah loves them who acknowledge their mistakes.

“Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and purify themselves.” (Surah Al Baqarah: 22)

2. Seek for Allah’s Forgiveness with an Easy Heart

There are a lot of people whom we see is better than us religiously, and we tend to seek for their advice about the sin we committed. Upon discovering your sin, there will many people who will guide you to seek Allah forgiveness with a good intention. But never repent just because many people told you to. Be sincere and ask for forgiveness from Allah sincerely, not because people told you to. It wouldn’t have any effect unless it comes from your deepest heart.

As narrated in Surah Al A’raf verse 173:

“But those who committed misdeeds and then repented after the and believed – indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is forgiving and merciful.”

“And perform Salah, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night.”

You may find yourself struggling after tawba, but have faith that tawba will lead you to a better life. 9. Fulfill the Obligatory Salah

The best way to seek forgiveness from Allah is by fulfilling your duty to Him. Pray with the most sincerity and consistently do the five obligatory Salah every day. It will be better if you do some additional Sunnah and even the midnight prayer.

Seeking for Allah’s forgiveness can be done not only when you are performing Salah and the dua after that. Use Allah’s name as dhikr all the time. Allah has many names, and the ones suitable for seeking forgiveness are Al-‘Afuww, Al-Ghafoor, and Al-Ghaffaar.

Focus on doing good deeds since it can erase bad deeds. Prophet S.A.W said:

“The five daily prayers and one Jumu’ah to the next, and one Ramadan to the next Ramadan, is expiation for what lies between them as a long as one refrains from the major sins.”

One of the best way to seek forgiveness from Allah is visiting His home. When you go Hajj for the first time, all of your sins will be washed away and you will be as clean as a newborn.

After seeking for forgiveness from Allah, you have to mastered self control so you can avoid doing sins in the future. Don’t be tempted to disobey Allah again even when He surely forgive you.

18. Visit the Mosque Often

If you are a man, spend all of your prayer time in the mosque. The blessing you receive from Allah will be multiple and it will be easier to have all your sins forgiven.

Attend a gathering of people who love and praise Allah. A good company leads you a many good things, and the bad one only leads you to sin.

  1. Responds to Azan every time you hear it.
  2. Repeat “Ameen” after the Imaam in every prayer.
  3. Dress according to the Islam rules.
  4. Pray any two rak’aah in Salah.
  5. Recite “Astaghfirullah” constantly.
  6. Recite “SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi” at least 100 times a day.
  7. Cry out of your fear to Allah.
  8. Be patience while you were sick.
