15 Importance of Faith in Islam – Worships – Beliefs

Faith is something that we, as a Muslim, should have. Everything begin with faith and based on faith we do many good deeds and worshiping Allah SWT until we die. Here are the importance of faith in Islam every Muslim should know and understand.

  1. The Foundation of Our Relationship with Allah

The basic of any religion is faith. Faith is more than merely conviction of the truth of a given principle, but it is essentially the acceptance of a principle as a basis for every action. Without faith, a man is like a car without a steering wheel, drifting aimlessly upon a sea of doubt and confusion. Faith makes a good foundation of relationship with Allah.

  1. To Convince that Allah SWT Really Exist

We can’t see the physical form of Allah SWT. But we have faith to convinced us that Allah SWT does exist, and he is always watching over us. Faith has an advantage to soothe our doubt toward Allah.

  1. Having Imaan in Allah is the best deed

The best and most pure of all deeds in the sight of Allah is Iman (faith). Abu Tharr (RA) narrated, he asked the Prophet (SAW),

“O Messenger of Allah, which deed is the best? ” He replied, “Having Iman in Allah and fighting in His cause (Jihad)” – Muslim.

  1. Faith As a Guidance in Hereafter

Faith is the path that leads to guidance and happiness in this world and also the Hereafter. It served as the light that enlighten the path to Jannah. As we have faith to Allah, we would never be lost. Allah Almighty says,

“So whoever Allah wants to guide – He expands his breast to (contain) Islam” – Al An’am:25

  1. As a Proof That We Fear Allah SWT

When we live, we must not do things Allah hates under the fear of Him. What is the proof that we really fear Allah SWT? It is by having our complete faith and Iman, only to Allah SWT. That we believe of His existence, and that we fear of Him.

  1. As a Condition from Allah SWT

Faith is a condition for any good deeds to be accepted by Allah SWT. As Allah says,

“And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate (anything) with Allah, your work would surely become worthless and you would surely be among the losers.” – Az Zumar:65

  1. Faith As a Moral Ground in Islam

In any religions, including Islam, faith is a basis and moral ground rather than dogmatic assertion. The well being of man is truly depend on the faith he has toward Allah SWT. Moreover, faith brings many benefits to human, as it’s one of the condition for his dua to be accepted by Allah.

  1. Faith is a Way to Worship Allah

To prove the faith towards Allah, we do religious activities to worship Allah. Thus, faith is the reason and the way to worship Allah SWT. Faith become the starting point that leads the life of a man for submission to Allah, and a man can’t be a Muslim if he has no faith.

  1. To Admit the Existence of Allah

There are people who deny the existence of Allah because He cannot be perceived directly, but the inability to directly observe something is not proof that Allah doesn’t exist. There are numbers of natural phenomenon in the universe, that we know exist because we observe their signs, even though no one has ever directly seen them.

  1. True Faith Manifested in the Heart

Where will a true faith laid? It has to be manifested in the heart as our sincerity, on the tongue as affirmation, and on the limbs as action.

As Ibn Taymiyyah writes:

وَمِنْ أُصُولِ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ وَالْجَمَاعَةِ أَنَّ الدِّينَ وَالْإِيمَانَ قَوْلٌ وَعَمَلٌ قَوْلُ الْقَلْبِ وَاللِّسَانِ وَعَمَلُ الْقَلْبِ وَاللِّسَانِ وَالْجَوَارِحِ

Among the principles of the people of the Sunnah and the community is that the religion and faith consists of sayings and actions: the sayings of the heart and the tongue, and the actions of the heart, tongue, and limbs.

  1. Faith Also Manifested Through Good Deeds

The ultimate and obvious manifestation of faith is surely through the good deeds. But it’s not the sole reason of why Allah admits someone into Jannah. We don’t deserve Jannah because we can never pay back what Allah has done to us. We are able to enter Jannah because of Allah’s mercy and blessings.

Jabir (RA) reported that The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:

لَا يُدْخِلُ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُجِيرُهُ مِنْ النَّارِ وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْ اللَّهِ

None of you will enter Paradise because of his good deeds alone. None would be rescued from the Hellfire, not even myself, except for the mercy of Allah.

  1. Faith Balancing Our Lives

Faith surely brings certain advantages in our lives. Faith is what keep our psychic and emotion balanced. Faith gives people peace, solace, comfort and security, an awareness that he is being guided by his creator.

  1. To Feel Secure in Life

We often feel insecure to what may happen during our lives in dunya and how our Hereafter will be. Faith provide us something to hold on and feel secure both in the world and Hereafter. That is because we have our faith in Allah and that He will never let us suffer in both as long as we live only to please Him.

  1. To Conceptualize the Meaning of Life

We have to stop and look back several time as to why we are created and exist in this world. People has no other reasons and purpose to live other than worshiping Allah from the day we were born until the day we died.

  1. To Gain the Big Reward from Allah

Allah SWT said, “As for those who fear their Lord unseen, for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.” Al Mulk:12

So those are the importance of faith all of us should know. Faith in undoubtedly one of the most important thing in Islam indeed.
