Laylatul Qadr Prayer – Blessing Virtues

The night of Laylatul Qadr or the night of a thousand months is a month that come in the last ten days of Ramadan. The night of Laylatul Qadr is a holy night where angels will come to the world, give blessings and pray human.

In this night, Muslim are recommended to do more worships because the night of Laylatul Qadr have many virtues that are too good to miss.

In the night of Laylatul Qadr, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will forgive the sins of His servants who do worship with a whole heart. Even, the special night of Laylatul Qadr is mentioned by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in Surah Al-Qadr ver 1 – 5 which reads :

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْر لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ نَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ .سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ

“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Laylatul Qadr. And what can make you know what is the Night of Laylatul Qadr? The Night of Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (Q.S. Al-Qadr : 1 – 5)

Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam always did I’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan to get rewards and forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala as it is narrated in the hadith below :

“Find Laylatul Qadr on the odd (number) from the last ten days of Ramadan.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari, Muslim and others)

“Whoever do night prayers at Laylatul Qadr because faith and hope rewards from Allah, be forgiven his past sins.” (Hadith of Muttafaq ‘Alaih)

In the night of Laylatul Qadr, we are recommended to do many worships include do Laylatul Qadr prayer.

The Meaning of Laylatul Qadr Prayer

Laylatul Qadr prayer is one of sunnah prayer in Islam. Muslim do it iin the month of Ramadan when they are sure that a night is the night of Laylatul Qadr.

Because there is not sureness when the night of Laylatul Qadr will come, then Muslim can do it since the beginning of Ramadan’s night until the last ten days in the month of Ramadan. If someone finds the signs of Laylatul Qadr, then he should do Laylatul Qadr prayer. Here are the signs of Laylatul Qadr, such as

The sun is not shine at noon and the air is cool.
The wind blows slowly and bring coolness for human.
No rain in that night.
The atmosphere of night is very calm, even no dog is barking or no voices of animals.
The air of night is cool, no hot or cold.

Those are according to the hadith of Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam below :

“And from Ibn Abbas ra, he said : Rasulullah SAW said (which means), “(Night) Laylatul Qadr is a beautiful night, sunny, no hot and no cold, (and) the next day, the sun light weakens reddish.” (Narrated by Thayalisi)

The Laylatul Qadr prayer is four rakat and it can be done after doing Isya prayer or Taraweeh prayer, but this prayer is better if we are done it in the third of the night such as Tahajud prayer. As for the ordinances of Laylatul Qadr prayer will be described in the explanation below [AdSense-B]

The Ordinances of Laylatul Qadr Prayer

The Laylatul prayer has same ordinances with obligatory prayers or other sunnah prayers. It can be done with steps below :

Read the intention

When we do a worship such as Laylatul Qadr prayer, we must read the intention in our heart and convince ourselves that the prayer is Laylatul Qadr prayer. As for the intention of Laylatul Qadr prayer is

“Ushalli Sunnata lailatil Qadri Arba’akaatin Lillahi Ta’aalaa”

Takbiratul Ihram

Same with other prayes, Laylatul Qadr prayer is started with doing the movement of takbiratul ihram and say Takbir, “Alloohhu Akbar” [AdSense-A]

Read Surah Al-Fatihah and a Short Surah

We have to read Al-Fatihah in the first rakat until he fourth rakat and Surah At-Takasur, Al-Qadr, Al-Ikhlas in succession as three times or we can also read other Surah as we can.

No Early Tahiyat

There is a little difference between obligatory prayers with Laylatul Qadr prayer. In the second rakat of Laylatul Qadr prayer, wo do not need to sit tahiyat, but we wake directly and continue the third rakat.

The last tahiyat in the fourth rakat

When we are in the fourth rakan then sit and read the dua of tahiyat. After reading it, we have to do Salaam.

Do Dhikr and Read Dua

After doing Laylatul Qadr prayer and perfet its rakat, then do dhikr and pray to Allah Subahanahu Wa Ta’ala. Begging His forgiveness and His willing.

The Virtues of Laylatul Qadr Prayer

Laylatul Qadr prayer is same with other worships, it has virtues, too. Someone who do Laylatul Qadr prayer will get some specialness or virtues, such as

Get Blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala

If someone worships in the night of Laylatul Qadr and do Laylatul Qadr prayer, then he will get blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. As the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in Surah Ad Dukhon below

إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ

“Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].” (Q.S. Ad Dukhon : 3)

Be forgiven sins

Any Muslim who do Laylatul Qadr prayer in that noble night and he begs forgiveness to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, then he will be forgiven his sins as it is explained in the hadith from Al Bukhari below

“Whoever do prayer in the night of Laylatul Qadr because faith and hope rewards from Allah, then his past sin will be forgiven.” (Narrated by Bukhari)
