There is a myth that people often do until now, it is a myth where a pregnant woman cannot cut her hair. Because they believe that it will influence the safety of mother and her baby.
The old people said that cutting hair while pregnant is taboo that should be not breached with any reasons. That is an obligatory thing for a young pregnant mother until she births. The law of cutting hair in Islam is allowed as long as it does not disturb the pregnancy and childbirth. Because the importance of pregnant women in Islam is giving thanks to Allah SWT by caring her baby based on Shari’a. Here are the word of Allah SWT and hadith that can make it strong,
Every pregnant women always have an overweight posture. They are fatter and bigger than usual. This is normal because in their body there is a baby. A pregnant woman often feels hot, too. It is influenced by the change of their physical.
The law cutting hair in Islam is often asked by pregnant women because they are uncomfortable with long hair. It makes their hot, moreover if they are in the hot region or summer.
Islam never gives shari’a that make His people difficultness. Islam allows pregnant women to cut their hair or treat their hair as long as it does not disturb and harmless for the healthiness of pregnant woman and her baby. It is allowed as long as it can bring a good effect and make the pregnant woman comfort.
Shirk is believing to others except Allah SWT. The law of cutting hair in Islam is halal. If there is someone who believes it, then it is shirk. Indeed, there is no command in Islam to do that thing.
We have to follow the Shari’a of Islam by doing the command of Allah SWT in His word below, “Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion and for me is my religion.” (Q.S. Al-Kafirun 4 – 6)
As a pregnant woman who still lives with parents and they still believe about that myth, she can explain it well or through Ulama. As a Moslem, we have to follow Shari’a Islam as our faith form to Allah SWt, so our pregnancy and our lives always get guideline from Allah SWT.
“My will for you is taqwa to Allah, still hear and obey because whoever one of you lives after me, then he will see many conflicts. Because of that, you must hold on my sunnah to get guidelines.” (Narrated by Tirmidzi) [AdSense-B]
Pregnant women are often afraid that if they do not a myth like cutting hair when pregnancy, they will get a disaster. But do not be afraid, we are not allowed to lead Allah’s will. “It is He who forms you in the wombs whoever He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (Q.S. Ali Imran : 6).
Allah SWT who creates the baby, take care the baby during pregnancy and birth him into the world. So, we must believe in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
“But Allah has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided. [It is] as bounty from Allah and favor. And Allah is Knowing and Wis.” (Q.S. Al-Hujurat : 7 – 8).
Of course, Following the rule that is not from Rasulullah is not a form of believers, because the intention is not for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
The faith of pregnant women are tested by that thing. They have to pass the habit that does not match in Shari’a Islam. They should only hold on to the religion of Allah SWT. Because only Allah SWT who gives safety and protection during pregnancy.
“My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated [for Your service], so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing….. And I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allah].” (Q.S. Ali Imran : 35 – 36)
The protection during pregnancy is only from Allah SWT, do not hang on other thing like that myth. The law of cutting hair in Islam is allowed. Doing the myth does not influence the protection and launching of pregnancy, because the protection only comes from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. [AdSense-B]
“Whoever do a good sunnah and it is followed, then it will be noted for him the reward of people who follow him and not lost any rewards that he has got. Rather, whoever do a bad sunnah and it is allowed by people after him, then it will be noted a bad reward like people who do it without decreasing the sin of giver.” (Narrated by Muslim)
Islam allows His servants to cut hair during pregnancy because there is no danger that will be caused by it. From the era if Rasulullah until now, there is no model in Islam that give an example about it.
Based on researches and the opinion of scientists, that thing is also allowed because there is no danger if pregnant women cut their hair.
So, As Moslem, we do not need to do and believe in something that there is in Shari’a Islam. Do not worry to cut your hair during pregnancy as long as it gives you comfort and it does not disturb your healthiness.
