Taraweeh prayer is one of worship in the month of Ramadan and it is very recommended. The law of Taraweeh prayer in the month of Ramadan is sunnah muakkad and it can be done together in the mosque or alone at home. It is not only for men, women are also recommended to do it although it is better for women if they do Taraweeh prayer at home.
Taraweeh prayer can be a characteristic in the month of Ramadan and Ramadan fasting seems to be not complete without doing Taraweeh prayer, although the law of Taraweeh prayer is sunnah and it is not a valid requirement of someone’s fasting.
Taraweeh prayer is classified into the types of Sunnah prayer where it is done at night or it is usually called with qiyamul lail. Taraweeh prayer is similar with other night prayers, such as benefits of Tahajud prayer, although it has a little different.
Muslim usually do Taraweeh prayer after doing Isya prayer and without sleeping first (as the requirement of Tahajud prayer), and it is finished with importance of Witr prayer.
Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam always did Taraweeh prayer in the month of Ramadan, although he did not do it in congregation because he was afraid that his people will consider the law of Taraweeh prayer as an obligation that must be done in Ramadan. Here are some dalil that advise to do night prayers especially Taraweeh prayer.
فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانْصَبْ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ
“So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct [your] longing.” (Q.S. Asy-Syarh/94 : 7 – 8)
فْضَلُ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ صَلاَةِ الْمَفْرُوْضَةِ، صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ
“The best prayer after obligation prayers is prayer that is done at night.” (Narrated by Abu Hurairah)

Taraweeh prayer in the first night of Ramadan is a sign that the next day, Muslim will enter the month of Ramadan and they must do fasting in thirty days ahead.
Muslim will always get together to the mosque and do Taraweeh prayer with spirit at the first night of Ramadan because they are happy to welcome the month of Ramadan. Taraweeh prayer has many virtues and everyone who do it surely wants to get its benefits.
Every worship that is done in the month of Ramadan will be multiplied by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. If a small worship will get a reward, then the worship that is done regularly like Taraweeh prayer will bring a big reward for the doer.
The reward of Taraweeh prayer at the first night of Ramadan is very big as it is mentioned in the hadith that the reward of doing Taraweeh prayer sincerely is same with the reward of doing prayer all night long.
مَنْ قَامَ مَعَ اْلإِمَامِ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ كُتِبَ لَهُ قِيَامُ لَيْلَة
“Whoever qiyamul lail with imam until he finished, then be written for him (reward) qiyam one night (full).” (Narrated by Ahmad, Abu Daud, Tirmidzi, Ibn Majah andd Nasa’i) [AdSense-B]

مَنْ قَامَ مَعَ اْلإِمَامِ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ كُتِبَ لَهُ قِيَامُ لَيْلَة
“Whoever pray (Taraweeh) with imam until it finished, then be written for him one night prayer (whole).” (narrated by Abu Dzar)
As anothe night prayers, Taraweeh prayer in the first night of Ramadan has some virtues. The virtues of Taraweeh prayer in the first night are below :
Taraweeh prayer that is done in the first night and other nights will erase sins, both the past sins or today sins.

إِِنَّ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرٌ فَرَضَ اللَّهُ صِيَامَهُ وَإِنِّي سَنَنْتُ لِلْمُسلِمِيْنَ قِيَامَهُ فَمَنْ صَامَهُ وَقَامَهُ إِعيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا خَرَجَ مِنَْ الذُّنُوبْ كَيَوْم وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّه
“Indeed Ramadan in a month where Allah obligates fasting and indeed I makes sunnah qiyam form Muslim. Then whoever fast Ramadan fasting and qiyam Ra,adan because faith and looking for rewards, the he (must) out from his sins as at the day when he was born by his mother.” (Narrated by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, Al Bazzar, Abu Ya’la and Abu Hurairah)
And it is also mentioned in another hadith
مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ اِيْمَانَا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْذنْبِه
“Whoever do qiyam (lail) in the month of Ramadan, because faith and looking for rewards, then be forgiven for him which has passed from his sins.” (Narrated by Abu Hurairah)

Taraweeh prayer in the first night is very recommended to be done because in the first night, we will set our heart before entering the month of Ramadan. In the first Taraweeh prayer, we have been firm to do all of worships and prepare our temporal and spiritual in the month of Ramadan.
Taraweeh prayer in the first night is an indicator that Muslim will do Ramadan fasting in the next day. Accidentally, it is an information to every Muslim if they have not known the first day of Ramadan fasting.

“Indeed at that night, there is really someone who can keep it to ask for Allah a good deed of the world and the Hereafter, Allah must give it (grants it); and thst is every night.” (Narrated by Muslim and Ahmad)

“Accustom yourself to do night prayers because those are tradition of believers before you, close to Allah, erase sins, avoid diseases and sin preventive.” (Narrated by Ahmad)
