“Oh Allah! I seek refuge in You from worry and sadness, from weakness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being overcome by debt and from being overpowered by men.” – Bukhari

1. Recognize the Initial Signs of Panic

Dua to Cure Panic

1. From a hadith that graded authentic by Al Albani, the Prophet (SAW) said that we should recite the following dua,
للّهُـمَّ إِنِّي عَبْـدُكَ ابْنُ عَبْـدِكَ ابْنُ أَمَتِـكَ نَاصِيَتِي بِيَـدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤكَ أَسْأَلُـكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّـيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ أِوْ أَنْزَلْتَـهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْـتَهُ أَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِـكَ أَوِ اسْتَـأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الغَيْـبِ عِنْـدَكَ أَنْ تَجْـعَلَ القُرْآنَ رَبِيـعَ قَلْبِـي، وَنورَ صَـدْرِي وجَلَاءَ حُـزْنِي وذَهَابَ هَمِّـي
O Allah, I am Your slave and the son of Your male slave and the son of your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured and Your Decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the reliever of my distress.
2. From a hadith by Bukhari, narrated by one of the Da’waat al Makroob,
اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّي أَعْوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الهَـمِّ وَ الْحُـزْنِ، والعًجْـزِ والكَسَلِ والبُخْـلِ والجُـبْنِ، وضَلْـعِ الـدَّيْنِ وغَلَبَـةِ الرِّجال
O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i.e. others).

3. The supplication of distressed, in a hadith by Abu Dawood, Abu Bakrah (RA) reported,
اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَا أَنْتَ
O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshiped except You.
4. From hadith by Abu Dawood, the Prophet (SAW) said,
اللهُ اللهُ رَبِّ لا أُشْـرِكُ بِهِ شَيْـئاً
“Allah, Allah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him.”
5. Reported by Sa’d ibn Waqas, the Prophet said,
لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا أنْـت سُـبْحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْـتُ مِنَ الظّـالِميـن
There is none worthy of worship but You, You are far exalted and above all weaknesses. Surely, I was among the wrongdoers.
6. There’s one dua that the Prophet (SAW) used to recite when he feel any distress or panic, such as the hadith by Tirmidhi,
“Ya Ḥayy Ya Qayyūm, bi-Rahmatika astagheeth.”
‘O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your Mercy I seek relief.’
7. When the panic attacks occur, you are overwhelmed by negativity, so we must recit dua from Surah Al Qamar verse 10
أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ
Indeed, I am overpowered, so help me.
8. Below is the dua that Prophet Musa (AS) made when he’s about to leave his country, from Surah Al Qasas verse 24,
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.
9. Only Allah SWT can make anything difficult become easy, from sahih by Ibn Hibban,
اللّهُـمَّ لا سَـهْلَ إِلاّ ما جَعَلـتَهُ سَهـلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْـعَلُ الْحَـزَنَ إِذا شِـئْتَ سَهـْلاً
O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficulty, if You wish, easy.
10. There are dua for everyone who seek for peace, said by Prophet (SAW),
“After every prayer, the Prophet (SAW) used to make this dua after reciting “astaghfirullah” three times.” – Muslim
