Commitments are needed to keep the society intact and to enable the members to live peacefully. Speaking about commitment, it’s not only between human to human, but also human to his Creator, Allah SWT. Commitment is a solid proof that we have our faith in Allah SWT and continue to be His servants until the end of the world. Here are many other important commitment in Islam:
1. Proving Our Faith to Allah SWT
Faith needs commitment. Every Muslim in the world have to committed to believe only Allah SWT and His Messenger (SAW). Commitment to Allah means that we entrust our life only to Him and do not wishes for anything else but his blessing.
Abdullah bin ‘Umar said, “Allah’s Apostle took hold of my shoulder and said, ‘Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler.” The sub-narrator added: Ibn ‘Umar used to say, “If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.” – Bukhari

2. To Hold Our Relationship Tight
What is the best foundation for every relationship? It is the commitment we have to keep it alive. Whether it is the commitment to Allah SWT or between human to human, it bonds our relationship even tighter. Commitment to Allah SWT means we are entrusting our lives to Him. He has taken care all of our worldly matter at clearly stated in the Holy Quran that Allah SWT told us not to worried about it. All we need to worry about is the afterlife, so we have to committed to Allah to obey all of His commands and living only to seek for His blessing.

3. Show the Real Manner of a Muslim
Commitment related a lot to promise and contract. The Quran clearly stated that every Muslim should keep the covenant as a proof of commitment.
“And keep the covenant. Lo! of the covenant it will be asked.” – Al-Israa’ 17:34
In daily life, keeping promises is one of the most important thing to maintain the good relationship between human. Violating the promises cause the loose of trust toward each other and destroying the society. As a Muslim, we have to be true to the words we spoke. We only speak truths and we only said promise that we can keep.

4. To Fulfill Our Duty to Allah SWT
It has become our ultimate duty that living in this world is to seek the bless of Allah SWT. Life would be in vain if we never feel grateful to everything Allah has given to us. Keeping promise is one of the ways to please Allah SWT. As promised will be asked on the Day of Judgement, as Allah said in the Quran:
“And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.” – Al Israa 17:34
Whoever keeping their promises would be loved dearly by Allah SWT.
“But yes, whoever fulfills his commitment and fears Allah – then indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him.” – Ali Imran 3:76

5. Avoiding the Rage of Allah SWT
One quality that a Muslim must possess is to be true to the words that are spoken through his mouth. Allah SWT rages everyone who is intentionally not keeping his promises and have no commitment to it. Allah SWT will not recognized him as one of his servants. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “
Three traits single out a hypocrite, even if he prays or fasts and claims to be Muslim: If he speaks, he lies. If he makes a promise, he does not keep it. If he is entrusted, he betrays the trust.” – Bukhari and Muslim

6. Keep a Peaceful Living
Society made the rules and attitude for living to make the world in order and everyone could live a peaceful living. One of the way to keep the peace is by fulfilling promises and commitments towards each other, for Muslim and other believers.
“…but if they seek your help in religion, it is your duty to help them except against a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, and Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do.” – Al Anfaal 8:72

7. Make Ourselves Closer to Jannah
As Allah SWT commands every of His servants to keep their promises and commitment under the intention of pleasing Him, big rewards comes along with it
“and fulfill (your obligations to) My Covenant (with you) so that I fulfill (My Obligations to) your covenant (with Me)” – Al-Baqarah 2:40

8. Whoever Keeps the Commitment Gain Allah SWT Blessings
Another rewards for those who keeps promises and commitments are the forgiveness of Allah SWT.
“Verily, I will expiate your sins and admit you to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise)” – Al Maa’idah 5:12
9. Creating a Good Habit for Life
Keeping commitment should be a good habits that we continue to do everyday. We will be someone whose words can be trusted.
10. To be Responsible with Everything We Said
We have to be responsible for everything we said and do, this is why we need to be committed. It is also a lesson for us to always be responsible with everything we said and not to be too easy to say something.
