20 Blessing Importance of 15 Shaban in Islam

Ramadan is indeed the best month in the year of Islamic calendar. It is a month where all rewards are multiplied, the doors of heaven are wide open, the sins are all forgiven, and the Satan in hold for the whole month. But it doesn’t make any other months are not special. Besides Ramadan, the month that comes right before it also holds its own specialty. It is the particular day of 15th Shaban. Here are the importance of 15 Shaban in Islam:

1. The Blessed Month After Ramadan

As we know, Shaban is the month comes right before Ramadan. Ramadan remains the best months in Islam, where Allah bless and forgiveness is open for the whole 30 days. Every minutes and days we spent to worship Allah SWT is indeed precious, but there is no denial that certain days and nights are special and holds more meaning than any other times.

Shaban is one of the months that holds much blessings, mercy, kindness, and compassion of Allah SWT. It was the eighth month in Islam calendar, coming after Rajab and right before Ramadan.

2. Good Times to Pray and Fasting

Of course Muslims have to pray to Allah everyday. But in the month of Shaban, especially the 15th, the rewards of praying is multiplied, as well as fasting. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) as A’ishah (RA) said:

“The Messenger (SAW) used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha’ban.” – Bukhari and Muslim

3. Following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

As mentioned above, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) cherish the month of Shaban as he cherished the month of Ramadhan. The Prophet (SAW) fast at the most days of Ramadan. Shaban is a such important months, and even though every night of the month are important, but the night and day of the 15th holds more specialty. As Muslim who lives under the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), cherish the month of Shaban is following the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).

4. Preparation to Welcome the Month of Ramadan

Ramadan is a month of celebration for all Muslims is the world. Before it comes, it would be better for us to prepare ourselves to welcome the best month ever, by emphasizing the meaning of Shaban, the month comes right before Ramadan. Fasting and praying more than any other times are acts done in preparation to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.

From Aisha (RA), she said, “Shaban was the most beloved month to Allah’s Prophet to fast in it till the beginning of Ramadan” – Al Albani

5. The Night When All Prayers are Granted

This is the specialty of the night of 15th Shaban that any other night on that month or any other month except Ramadan do not own. On the night of 15th Shaban, pray a lot of prayer, pray for anything you could ask for as Allah SWT would grant it all. Take this time to pray for the wellness of every Muslim in the world.

6. Time to Perform Special Prayers

The night of 15th Shaban is indeed considered special for The Prophet (SAW) himself. As he performs special prayers and rituals on the night. The Prophet (SAW) prayed 8 rakaat prayer, recited Ayat al Qursi, and recited Surah Al Ikhlas for 50 times after reciting Surah Fatihah.

7. A Night Like Lailatul Qadr

Lailatul Qadr is a night better than thousand of months, and the night of 15th Shaban is similar with it. There is a Hadith which Imam Tabari (RA) writes: Prophet (SAW) said, ‘From Shabaan to Shabaan there is a decision made of who is going to die, be married and some people get married but their names are written in the death program.

8. The Time When Allah SWT Gives Knowledge to the Angels

On the night of 15th Shaban, the Prophet (SAW) said that Allah SWT takes decision in the certain matters of His servants. Including their sustenance, life, death, and welfare. All this knowledge were passed on to all of His Angels.

9. Perfect Time to Ask for Allah’s Forgiveness

Aisha (RA) said: “On this night the Prophet (SAW) went to Jannat-ul-Baqee to make du’a, I followed him. The Prophet (SAW) said to me: Allah puts His attention towards the first Heaven, and forgives the sins of the people, even if they were equivalent to the hairs of the goats of Bunn Qalb. (A tribe who at the time had a lot of goats).” – Tirmidhi

10. A Day and Night to Celebrate

As special as the night and day of 15th Shaban is, it is the night for Muslim to celebrate. The way to celebrate it is by seeking the utmost blessing of Allah SWT. Repenting the sins, performs many prayers and fast during the day.

What to Do in the Night and Day of 15 Shaban

  • Repent for your sins and Allah SWT will forgive them all.
  • Fast during the day of 15th Shaban.
  • Wake up in the third half of the night and performs Tahajjud prayer.
  • Following the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).
  • Take the chance to forgive each other and taking care to our brothers and sisters more.
  • Fast on the most of days on Shaban.
  • Spend more time in the mosque and asks for Allah’s forgiveness.
  • Praise Allah SWT as many times as we can by performing Dhikr.
  • Make many dua as you can, put sincerity on it.
  • Recites the Holy Quran during the night to attain the excellence of 15th Shaban.

So those are the importance of 15 Shaban in Islam. Although many other days are also important, however 15th Shaban holds its own specialty, and may we gain the most excellence of it.
