10 Recommended Ways How to Stay Up After Fajr

Islam is a religion that value time above all things. It means, every time that has passed should be spent by doing good deeds in the pleasure of Allah SWT.

Every morning, the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would pray to Allah SWT: ”O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.” – Ibn al Majah

The Prophet (SAW) said that it’s not good for us to go back to sleep after Fajr prayer, but it’s hard for us to stay awake as well. Here is the ways how to stay up after Fajr

1. Take a bath before doing the Fajr prayer

The weather in the early morning is indeed freezing cold and we tend to be very lazy to take a shower in those hours. But the cold comes only on the beginning, and soon you will feel your mind and soul refreshed by the purity of the air and water. Your body temperature will soon adjust with the water temperature and you will no longer feel the cold. Taking a bath in the morning also good for your blood circulation and improve your health. After that, you feel very fresh and ready for the day. Your sleepiness is being washed away by the cold water.

2. Do another good deeds so you won’t feel sleepy

In the morning, don’t just do the Fajr prayer and then not doing nothing. Dazing off makes you want to go back to sleep. Instead, do another good deeds to receive more blessings from Allah SWT. Do the morning Dhikr after Fajr prayer and continue to recite some verse from the Holy Quran.

Starting your day positively by doing good deeds will nourish your soul and make you feel grateful to Allah SWT. Remembering that all you have right now is upon His will and nothing else matter.

3. Make a to-do list and goals you want to achieve during the day

A successful people always got his life planned and focused on the main goals. He has no time to waste and being lazy. Planning everything you want to do everyday and what goals you want to achieve helps you closer to reach your dream. This act also shows that you are responsible for your life and handling all the matters yourself.

If you do this everyday, you won’t be at loss and not knowing what to do and rather spend your time to a wasteful things.

4. Go to bed early

If you wonder why you feel sleepy in the morning, maybe it because you went to bed late last night. Stop that bad habit and go to the bed early. After doing the Isha’ prayer, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prefer to go to sleep rather than engage in an unnecessary talk. Everyone who follows the Prophet (SAW) and making the most in their morning in doing good deeds are living a good life. If you want to sleep more, take a nap after the Zuhr prayer.

5. Untie the knots of the Shaytaan

”During your sleep, Satan knots three knots at the back of the head of each of you, and he breathes the following words at each knot, ‘The night is, long, so keep on sleeping,’ If that person wakes up and celebrates the praises of Allah, then one knot is undone, and when he performs ablution the second knot is undone, and when he prays, all the knots are undone, and he gets up in the morning lively and in a good mood, otherwise he gets up dull and gloomy. ” – Bukhari

6. Do another activities while waiting for Dhuha

After praying Fajr, do another activities while waiting for the time to Dhuha prayer. Clean up your house or get yourself ready for work is best to keep yourself sober. As said by the Prophet (SAW),

“In the morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification is an act of charity (Subhan Allah). Every utterance of praise of Him is an act of charity (Alhamdulillah), every utterance of profession of His Oneness is an act of charity (Laa ilaha ill Allah), every utterance of profession of His Greatness is an act of charity (Allahu Akbar), enjoining good is an act of charity, forbidding what is distreputable is an act of charity, and two rak’ahs which one prays in the forenoon will suffice.” – Muslim

7. Do some exercise

The morning is a good time to move and sweat your body a little. Exercise in the morning will improve your health and gain you more energy to be able to stay awake during the day.

8. Watch the morning news

Turn on your television and watch for the newest information there is. The morning news start right after the Fajr prayer, and rather than going back to sleep it’s better to update your information about what’s going on around at the time.

The air in the morning is free of pollution and best for the body. It’s very good to refresh you body and soul, also keeping the interaction between neighbors. Take a little walk around to see the sun rising and inhale the best air.

For a healthy lifestyle, breakfast is something you should not miss. Breakfast is good for your health and gives you enough energy to do the activities until late in the afternoon. Make your health breakfast after Fajr so that you won’t be back to sleep because of all the heat you feel in the kitchen.
