In Islam there are so many events that are important and significant. Some called the holy days of Islam or the sacred days of Islam. It is also included of nights, several event occurred during night. Night is a time where people rest from their daily activities.
It is rather quiet than daylight. In Islam it is recommended to perform dua, recite Qur’an during night when our surroundings feel quiet, calm, and peaceful. Also read about Virtues of Truthfulness in Islam.
In Islam we know few nights which included as the most importance nights. These nights have special values for muslims. In this article we will learn the most importance nights in Islam.
1. Night of Friday
In Islam Friday has special place and considered as the most honored day of the week. During this day muslim’s men also performed prayer called the Friday prayers or Salat Jumu’ah.
The Quran verse below explained how importance Friday for muslims,
“O you who have believed, when (the adhan) is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu’ah (Friday), then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.” (QS. Al-Jumu’ah : 9)
It is so importance that one should leave their activities to perform prayer. Rasulullah also said in the following hadith,
“The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. It is the day Adam was created. It is the day when Adam entered the Heavenly Gardens, the day when he was expelled from it and also the day he died. Friday is the day on which the Day of Resurrection will take place.” (Muslim)

2. Night of Thursday
We should treat this days special and differently from others since there are so many importance of Thusrday night in Islam.
Since it is a night before Friday the best day among all days and there must many benefits lies in this night. Rasulullah said in the following hadith,
“Whoever reads surat Al-Kahf on the night of Friday, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (i.e Ka’bah).” (Al-Albani)
The importance of Thursday night for muslims are, [AdSense-B]
- It is a time where our deeds presented to Allah SWT
- If we perform good deeds during this night, all of our sins through the week will be forgiven by Allah.
- As mentioned before this night is precede the best day of Friday. All the goodness in Friday will also bestowed during this night.
- All dua will not be rejected during the night of Thursday.
- It is also the night where the punishment in grave are stopped.
There are so many virtues of Thursday night, muslims should perform good deeds by helping other, reciting Quran, perform prayer, perform dua and ask for forgiveness to Allah SWT.
3. Laylat-ul-Qadr
One of the holy month in Islam is Ramadhan, there so many virtues and blessing during this month. In this month there is a magnificent night called night of Laylat-ul-Qadr.
[AdSense-A] This night is so blessed that the reward is equal of a thousands month. Allah SWT said in the following verse:
“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (QS. Al-Qadr : 1-5)
During the last ten days of Ramadan are believed to be one of this night. Therefore muslims should increasing their worship during this time.
From the verse we understand why is this night important for us, and why this night became full of blessed, because at this night the holy book of Qur’an first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. As Aisha (R.A) stated that Rasulullah said,
“Look for Laylat-ul-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.” (Bukhari)

4. Night of the firs ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
From Ibn Abbas (R.A) narrated that The Holy Prophet SAW said as follows,
“No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah). Then some companions of the Prophet said, ‘Not even Jihad?’ He replied, ‘Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah’s sake) and does not return with any of those things.” (Bukhari)
The hadith explained to muslims how important these days for Islam. Since any good deeds perform furing these days will be better than other good deeds even compare to Jihad. During this month also muslims perform Hajj or pilgrimate.
Rasulullah SAW als perform fasting during the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah since Allah will provide great rewards for those who do it.
5. Night of 15th Shaban
Shaban is also called as the month of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. It is recommended for muslims during this night to ask for blessing and forgiveness. As menitoned in the hadith below,
“In the fifteent night of Shaban, Allah manifests and forgives all His creations except for the Mushrik (idolater) and the spiteful.” (Ibn Majah)
In the month of Shaban itself Rasulullah used to fast most except for the last few days of the month. When the companion used to ask Him why he fast more during this month, He replied :
“That (Shaban) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting.” (An-Nasaai)
There are so many virtues of Shaban in Islam such as time to prepared for Ramadan, time for seeking for repentance, and also it is a gift month from Allah SWT.
Another most importance nights in Islam are the first night of Rajab, the night of 27th of Rajab, the night of two Eid as Islamic sacred or holydays, the night of Arafah, and the night of Ashura.
Muslims should increasing dua, prayer, good deeds, and glorifying Allah throught all of these importance nights.
Since the reward will be greater than any other nights. But what we must always remember is that performing prayer and worshipping Allah should be done every day and preceded with a good intention.
