17 Important Dua to Increase Memory in Islam

Humans are creatures that have the ability to remember and store memory for a long time. Actually, there are two types of memory, namely long and short-term memory. Long-term memory is a memory associated with all the things we’ve done such as facts, events, experiences, and expertise. While the short-term memory is the memory accessible quickly, such as memorizing or remembering something that matters. In this discussion, we will discuss the 17 dua to increase memory in Islam.

1. Dua Before Starting Class

The bell is ringing and all the students entering their classes and their teacher also. The benefit of this dua is to be given an understanding of the lessons provided by the teachers as well as to open the door of our minds while study going on. As Muslim, The Messenger of Allah suggests to us to recites this dua before the lesson begins or before starting class, with In the name of Allah, Most benevolent, Ever-Merciful please recites this dua :

“Allhumma Akhrijni min zulumatil wahmi ,wa akrimni be nuril fahmi . Allahumma afta alayna abwaba rahmateka, wa anshur alyna khazaena uloomeka be rahmateka ya arrahamar rahemeen.”

“O Allah, please bring me out of the darkness of doubt and favor me with the light of comprehension. O, Allah opens to us the doors of your mercy and unfold for us the treasure of your knowledge by your mercy. O, Allah the Most Merciful of the Merciful ones.”

2. Dua Before and After Studying

Our Prophet Muhammad SAW suggest to recite dua before and after while you studying. The benefit of these duas are you will keep this memorize while you study. These duas are also increasing your memorize while you are studying. Besides the other benefit is to make easier to except while you are studying. This is dua before and after studying that you must recite.

  • Dua Before Studying

“Allaahumma akrimnee binooril fahmi wa kharrajanee min z’ulumaatil wahmi waftah’ a’lainaa abwaaba i’lmak. Wan shur a’lainaa khuzzaanu ma’rifatika yaa arh’amar raah’imeen. Allaahumma waffiqnee fil mut’aala’ti bih’ablee jamee-i’ mushkilaatil masaa-ili minal kutubi birah’matika yaa arh’amar raah’imeen.”

“Oh Allah, honor me by the light of understanding and take me out from the darkness of doubt and open upon us the doors of your knowledge and open upon us the treasure of your recognition, oh the best of the Merciful ones. Oh Allah, and give me Tawfeeq to study and solving all the difficult problems through books. By your mercy, oh the best of the merciful ones.”

  • Dua After Studying

“Allahumma inni astaodeeka ma qara’tu wama hafaz-tu. Farudduhu ‘allaya inda hajati elahi. Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’-u qadeer wa anta hasbeeya wa na’mal wakeel.”

Oh, Allah! I entrust you with what I have read and I have studied. Oh, Allah! Bring it back to me when I am in need of it. Oh, Allah! You do whatever you wish, you are my availer and protector and the best of aid.”

3. Dua for seeking knowledge

Every student or adult Muslim who searches for knowledge and wants to be launched in his quest, then you can recite this dua. This dua was once declared by Prophet Moses AS when he had difficulty speaking publicly. In addition, other benefits of this dua is to assist us in the test whether written or oral. For you, a student who is in the examination and should speak openly, you can read this prayer twice before you speak in front of your friends and also your teacher.

“(Moses) said: My Lord! relieve my mind. And ease my task for me. And loose a knot on my tongue, That they may understand my saying.” (Verse 20:25-28)

 4. Dua  to remove anxiety

Sometimes while the lesson begins we as the student feel laziness or afraid when the exams begin. This dua is effective to drives away the bad feelings. Whosoever recites this dua Allah ta’ala will always protect you from any bad feelings or laziness that you get while studying.

“O, Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being oppressed by men.”

4. Dua to Increase one of memory

There are many benefits of Ayat al-Kursi, some scholars sure that this ayah is good to increase one memory for us. Whosoever recites this regularly day and night Allah ta’ala will increase more than one of our memory. Besides, you can recite a piece of verse in the Al – Baqarah. Below here is  Ayat al-Kursi and a piece of verse Al-Baqarah that you must recite to increase one of your memory:

“Allah! There is no god but He – the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitted? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the highest. The Supreme (in glory).”  (Ayat al-Kursi)

5. Dua for maintaining concentration

If you get loos of your concentration, you may recite this dua for maintaining your concentration. With this dua inshallah our concentration will be the focus again and we can continue to learn. Reciting this dua twice when your concentration is loos.

“Blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his progeny. O Allah, I ask you, the one who mentions goodness and actualizes it and commands it, remind me of that which the shaytan makes me forget.”

6. Dua to learn of knowledge

New science, sometimes difficult to learn. As you learn new things to learn and you want to quickly understand you can read this dua when you have trouble learning something new. Below is a dua to be given an understanding of new knowledge.

“Glory be to Him who does not treat the citizens of His Kingdom unjustly and harshly. Glory be to Him who does not let torment and pain come suddenly upon mankind. Glory be to the Compassionate, the Merciful. O Allah fill my heart and mind with true enlightenment, discerning intelligence, quick understanding and knowledge, Verily Thou art able to do all things.”

7. Dua While Forgot something

As humans, we must have forgotten, forget the things we have put or saved. If you forget the missing item or things, you can read the prayer below three times each. May Allah restore our goods, for He is All-Seeing and Hearing All Things.

“Truly! To Allah, we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.” (Verse 2:156)Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includes the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous. (Verse 2:255)

8. Dua When Finding Difficulty

Difficulties are things that we often face, not just when learning. Difficulties also occur when we are in trouble. When you learn about something and you find it difficult, you can read this prayer three times. Insha Allah, you will be given ease in understanding the lessons you learn.

“Oh, Allah! Nothing is easy except what You have made easy. If You wish, You can make the difficult easy.”

9. Dua to Remember the important Quran Verse

Reciting and remembering each verse of the Qur’an is a very good deed. However, the phrase in memorizing the verses of the Qur’an that we find it difficult to remember. “O Allah has mercy on me to be able to leave disobeying you till I am alive. Show mercy to me by not imposing a troublesome and difficult task on me. Make me do good deeds that please you. Make me learn your book by heart, just like you have taught me. Give me the ability to recite it in a manner that pleases you. O Allah (through the Quran) enlighten my wisdom, open the doors of understanding and liberate my heart. Loosen my tongue, let my body be active and give me strength for it. No one can help me save you. There is no god except you.” (Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib has written in Sahifa Alawiyyah)

10. Dua to Remember While Write or Speak

The other dua to remember while you are writing or speaking you may recite this two as much as you can. This dua is suited who are people as speakers or journalists who speak it publicly. “I beseech You, O He who reminds about doing good, do good and commands to do good. Send blessings to Muhammed and the family of Muhammed and let me remember what shaytan makes me forget.”

11. Dua to Remember While Listen or Read

“In the name of Allah the Most kind the Most Merciful. Glory be to Him who does not treat the citizens of His kingdom unjustly. Glory be to Him who does not let the torment and pain come suddenly upon mankind. Glory be to the compassionate the merciful. O Allah, fill my heart with true enlightenment, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Surely you are able to do all things.”

12. Dua Increasing Knowledge

Everyone who wants to increase knowledge, with increasing knowledge means insight that we can become more widespread. In addition to studying and practicing you can read this prayer after the prayer or you can also recite it before or after studying. “In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful. O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family. 13. Dua to Improve and Strength Memory

A tip for you who wants to strengthen and improve his memory is to recite dhikr after the obligatory prayer and recite the holy verses of the Qur’an. Here is a recitation that we can read after performing obligatory prayers.

“I ask forgiveness of Allah Almighty, there is no God but Him, who is always alive again taking care of everything by Himself, and I repent of Him.” (recite this three times)“There is no God to be worshiped except Allah Almighty. There is no partner for Him. He is the one who has the authority and the kingdom who commands, for him all the life-giving and deadly praise, and He is in charge of all things. ” “O, Allah You are the Essence who has welfare and then The prosperity of the welfare and to-Mullah will return again all that prosperity. Our Lord! Live us prosperously. And enter us into the welfare haven’s paradise. You have the power to give much, and you are Most High, O Substance with greatness and glory. “

14. Dua Ask to Remembering

While we forget for a while, we can ask Allah ta’ala to assist us to remember it again. Below here there are two duas to help you remember the memorize that you memorize it before. You can recite these duas in every time when you forget of remembering something.

“O, Allah! Assist me to remember it, and teach me whatever I am ignorant of it”“O, Allah! I entrust You with what I have read and I have studied. (O Allah!) Bring it back to me when I am in need of it.”

15. Dua to increase memory and speak

Some scholars sure that Surah Al-Jumuah (Verse 62:1-11) is good for increasing our memory and also our speech. This surah is suited for the students who want to try to seek knowledge and turns from gaining the knowledge. Recite this surah frequently in the morning and evening. Your memory and your speak will increase and also you will always protect from the influence of Satan and finally, whoever recites this surah, their sins are forgiven. Below here is the piece of the Surah Al Jumuah (1-5):

“ALL THAT IS in the heavens and the earth sings the praises of Allah the King, the Holy, Omnipotent, the Wise.(1) It is He Who raises among the Gentiles an apostle from amongst them, who recites His revelations to them, reforms them and teaches them the Scripture and the Law, for before him they were clearly in error.(2) And for others among them who have not joined them yet. He is all-mighty and all-wise.(3) This is the bounty of Allah, He gives whosoever He, please. Allah is master of great bounty.(4)This is the bounty of God, He gives whosoever He, please. Allah is master of great bounty. The likeness of those who were charged with (the law of) the Torah which they did not observe, is that of a donkey who carries a load of books (oblivious of what they contain). How wretched the semblance of the people who deny the words of Allah! Allah does not show an unjust people the way.(5)…….” (Verse 62:1-5)

16. Dua for easy memorizing

Whoever recites this dua, we will easy to memorizing something, therefore you may recite this dua within three times before you want to memorize something. Inshaallah while after you recite this dua you will get easy to memorize anything. Allah ta’ala says in Quran:

“The day We shook the mountain above them like an awning, and they feared it would fall over them,
(We said): ‘Hold fast to what we have given you, and bear in mind what is (said) therein so that you may take heed.'” (Verse 7:171)

17. Dua not easy to forget

Whoever recites this dua at any time, three times a day or more after prayer. We will not easy to forget anything and also while we memorizing the verses of Holy Qur’an we will not forget it. This dua keeps us from getting forgetting for a short time while memorizing the verses of the Holy Quran.

“O, Allah make me calm, believe in the encounter with You, satisfied with your giving and blessing upon Your requirements.”

18. Dua to have a good memory

inally, the dua that we will give for you is dua to have a good memory. In Islam, to have a good memory we can recite the Asma ul Husna. Asma ul Husna is the 99 names of Allah Almighty. The benefit of the  Asma ul Husna is not to have a good memory but also the bright of heart, quickly understanding and intelligence in minds. Reciting this dua after you doing an obligation of prayer or you can recite it after doing Sunnah prayer, like Tahajud. Below here are the names of Allah Almighty that you will get a good of your memory.

  • Ya Hakim (The Perfectly Wise)   Recite this 300 times after Subuh and Maghrib
  • Ya Ba’ith (The Resurrector) Recite this 100 times in a day
  • Ya Mubdi’u (The Originator) Recite this 470 times every day
  • Ya Maajid  (The Glorious)  Recite this 400 times every day
  • Ya Rashiid ( The Righteous Teacher) Recite this 1,000 times between Maghrib and Isya
  • Ya Rahman (The All-Compassionate) Recite this after doing Maghrib’s prayer and Subuh
  • Ya Muhaimin ( The Guardian) Recite this after doing Isya’s prayer
